Scarletstar prowled through BlazeClan territory, angry, upset, and most of all furious. Why in the world would Brightstar turn against them like that?! She turned and glanced at her warriors, Thornpool sticking out the most. "I know why," thought Scarletstar. "It's because of Leopardstar and IvyClan. She doesn't like that idea. Well, I'll montrer her what an idea is!"

They raced away through the territory, all her warriors along side her. Nightbreath was back at the ColdClan camp, awaiting the return of her Clanmates. "Nightbreath doesn't like war," thought Scarletstar. "But she is under MY leadership, so she'll just have to get over it."

They kept running.

Finally, she dropped back to Thornpool. "Today's the jour toi prove yourself," She a dit to the young she-cat. "You're going to montrer all of BlazeClan and the Clans around the Flat Rock just how strong ColdClan is." The she-cat flicked her tail. She was Nightbreath's littermate, but she was nothing like her sister. She thought of war as a tool, a way to get ColdClan stronger and plus known.

"I won't let toi down, Scarletstar."

Scarletstar nodded then looked down into the camp. There were warriors sprawled lazily about, and a couple of kits chatting here and there.

"We'll get you, yet, BlazeClan, you'll see..."

"ColdClan attack!" and they leapt down.

Mistyflower, a gray she-cat, leapt at Scarletstar. "What're toi doing!?" she wailed as she hit Scarletstar dead on. Scarletstar rolled as Mistyflower attacked, a deadly force that BlazeClan could be proud of. "I wish I didn't have to do this to you, my special," she thought seductively as she bit into Mistyflower's face. "But toi have gone and betrayed us in support of Brightstar, so this must be!" She leapt up and pinned the she-cat down, then bit hard into her neck.

After a moment, she felt Mistyflower weaken. A voice in her head warned her not to kill Mistyflower, because Mistyflower was strong and useful. "I wouldn't have to if she were in ColdClan! If only..." But she couldn't bring herself to kill such a useful cat, even if they were enemies. She leapt away from the wounded deputy and landed on a new cat, someone she wasn't sure she knew.

This cat was also strong, but not strong enough. She struggled through her memory to think of a name for the face, but none came to mind. Especially since the only glimpse she got of the face was when she was attacking it ou getting attacked par it. Finally, she felt a bite in her leg and she screeched with fury. She pinned the tom down and bit hard into his neck, feeling bone. He was killed instantly.

Looking up from the dead tom, she saw other chats run around. Several of them were head for her. "Yes, StarClan! Come for me!" They swarmed up and jostled around her. They were surrounding her, choking her off.

For a moment, all she knew was the warmth of many bodies. Then blood trickled down the mass of chats on haut, retour au début of her. She swam up from the pile and struggled out for air.

"Thornpool! Go!" she cried. She saw the small black she-cat run up and into the leader's den. A moment later, she returned with Brightstar. They fought like warriors should, but more. Thornpool, yes, was destined for greatness. Finally, the black she-cat pinned Brightstar.

"Do it!" Scarletstar called from the heaving mass. "Do it now!"

But Thornpool's hesitation cost her. Brightstar heaved upward and shot the she-cat down into the ground. She leapt.

Hareflight, a prized warrior as well, crossed the camp in secondes flat and rushed the BlazeClan leader. He bit hard into her neck and fought her off his mate. Then, when they were wrestling each other, Longfang joined them. He leapt up onto a ledge of rocks that had tumbled down years il y a and shoved with all his might. A rather large rock fell on the twisting chats with a sickening crack.

All fighting stopped then. Scarletstar broke free from the rocks and looked, afraid of what she would find.

Hareflight wriggled out from under the rock and collapsed on the ground suivant to it. "StarClan...help me!" he panted. Fear and anger lifted in his voice. Mistyflower was still injured, but she limped vers l'avant, vers l’avant anyway. "If only, if only," thought Scarletstar at the pained but determined look on the deputy's face.

"There'll be no StarClan where you're going!" she hissed. "ColdClan, how dare toi lead this unreasonable attack on a loyal, ShiningStar Clan. We have been faithful to our end of the deal, and we have kept up life as normal. We have been dealing with a crisis of our own. Now toi invade our camp and take our leader? This is not ShiningStars' will."

"StarClan willed us to it!" wailed and injured apprentice. And it seemed that there was a brink to another battle.

Scarletstar stepped vers l'avant, vers l’avant between the growls of both Clans. She dipped her head to Mistyflower. "You are a Rebelle she-cat, and I offer toi one plus chance." The gray she-cat's eyes widened in disbelief. "Join us, Mistyflower, ou this won't be the last battle BlazeClan faces from ColdClan."

There was a pause, and the deputy opened her mouth, appalled. "Come on, Mistyflower!" willed Scarletstar through her mind. "Make the right choice. BlazeClan will die anyway, and if toi stay, you'll die too."

It looked like she was about to say something, but then there was a moan and Brightstar crawled out from under the rock, moaning.

"Brightstar!" wailed a kit. He was a small, brown tomkit with bright eyes. Scarletstar narrowed her eyes at the kit, feeling as though she knew him. But the pull was imaginary. There was no way that she was at all connected to this kit.

Mistyflower lashed her tail, having made her decision. "Take your warriors and get out," she ordered. "And toi haven't seen the last of BlazeClan, either."

Scarletstar dipped her head under the weight of failure. "No Mistyflower, eh. That's a shame," she thought.

"As toi wish," she said, and the gathered her warriors and left the BlazeClan camp, the last image of Mistyflower looking down at Brightstar.

"We will come back..."
