I'm not looking for a fight or anything, I was just curious as to how many people found it through SyFy, as opposed to seeing the original first. If you've seen the original, what did you think of it?

Again, I don't want to argue, but everyone is welcomed to voice their opinions whether positive or negative in the comments of this pick.

I live in England, a Being Human is on BBC Three. I kind of saw part of one episode in the first series and really liked it, but I never got into watching it.
When the american version started I thought I'd start watching it to see what it was like, and I liked it, so I carried on watching.
I'm thinking of maybe going back and watching all of the original ones when the US series has finished, just in case of spoilers!

LOL well actually nah I'd be interested in seeing it but I actually don't care if I see the UK version, it really wouldn't upset me if I never got to watch it.

^ Yeah he totally is. He has the most girly high-pitched screams when he's caught off guard, thus making his freakout moments utterly HILARIOUS.

ForsakenMoon, I'm not comparing them, I'm responding to what the user above me wrote.

I've seen a few eps of the UK version and I really liked it. I don't get the channel to watch it where I am, so the US version is what I watch every episode of.
I technically heard of the series sometime before Sam Witwer was cast in the US version. I didn't know of the US version then. I thought it was a very interesting concept and I really wanted to see it. I couldn't get it, but then I got to see a marathon of a few eps. Basically, I was really excited when the US version rolled around.

^yeah, it has a different momentum than this one. Its not flashy, and starts off on kind of a slow burn, getting to know the characters first before it really throws them into the plot. It wasn't until episode 4 of the first series that I really got sucked in.

Also, there's a small issue with American viewers because the *actual* pilot was never shown in the states (the one that shows them meeting, ect) it was shown as a tv movie in the UK, and had different actors. The first episode aired here was really the 2nd so we didn't get that foundation to the story that thankfully the US version did include.

I really like the UK version, but I probably would not have sought it out without a US version in the works. I think they have to be considered two very different shows in the same basic universe. The only problem I ever had with the UK version was accents in a few minor characters, but they usually only had a few quick lines so I had no opportunity to get used to their diction. Otherwise, the three roommates won me over immediately, and I loved how much of a bond there was in every small interaction.

If I had to categorize the major difference in the UK and US versions - liking both the same - I'd have to say US version comes off as more of a sci-fi show with a heavy dramatic element and a lot of human interest minor plots. The UK version does have some very action-based sci-fi plots, but the typical scene is more about the personal struggles of the characters and has a more measured pace.

Well I just have to say even though I forbidded myself from ever coming back here they totally ruined the UK version as of now!!! The whole baby crap, annoying Nina and especially killing off Mitchell just killed the show for me!!! Good luck to season 4, don't know how they'll manage it but I certainly won't be watching anymore!!!:(

^I purposely haven't watched it yet for that reason, and I don't plan to either. 3 years is a good run for a British series, and I'm satisfied if it stops there.

You knew it had to come in some way or another, since Aidan is spending two years in New Zealand to film The Hobbit. The actors had known about this since june (though the public only found out last october/november) so much of the series was written to give Aidan an exit strategy.

Also, Forsakenmoon,

You are always welcome here, whenever you want. Its your spot LOL. I sent you a message which you probably blocked, but it basically said that I felt bad about chasing you away, and that if you were to come back I wouldn't argue or attack your opinions. That way we can both enjoy this spot.

Ummmm yeah. I have been watched it. Its amazing and is my favorite. To be honest I haven't even seen the U.S version yet well that is if you don't count the 15 minutes I watched and was like its not the same awesomeness ass the original but I am willing to give it another try.

The original is the reason I watched this one. My love for both series kind of balances out... I love Aidan over Mitchell, Nina over Nora, I love George and Josh equally, and I dislike Annie and Sally equally (Note: but not hate - I don't hate them, they just both happen to be my least favorites). So add it all up, I am pretty much fond of all the characters on both shows. :D

This one came first for me. I came across it completely by chance, and when my mom noticed me watching it she told me how she'd seen a bunch of the British and liked it and how this one was following the story (at first).

I have since managed to catch some of the British and it was pretty cool too but I have to say I prefer this one. It has more depth and ok I'll be fully honest here Sam W. has a lot to do with it too, he's totally HOT!
I am especially peeved with the British version after they killed off Mitchell because I had really been liking the Annie/Mitchell romance and they hadn't gotten very far with it. I loved his last to her though "You are the love of my long life". Yeah that's right I'm a sapsucker! hehe.

I HAVE SEEN THE BRITISH ONE, BUT I DO HAVE TO SAY, I LIKE THE US VERSION A WHOLE LOT MORE IT HAS A MORE CREEPY SUPERNATURAL ELEMENT!!!
AND SEEMS TO HAVE MORE HUMOR IN MY OPINION!!!!
BUT IT'S RARE FOR ME SINCE IM WAY MORE INTO FOREIGN TV, GUESS I JUST GOT BORED OF AMERICAN TV AND STARTED LOOKING UP TONS OF SHOWS IN OTHER COUNTRIES!!! LOL
I ADORE ALOT OF BRITISH SHOWS, SO GUESS THATS WHY I LIKE THE BRIT VERSION, BUT I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE US VERSION A WHOLE LOT MORE PERHAPS ITS BECAUSE THE BRITISH ONE IS SLOWER PACED!!!!
WHETHER COMPARED OR NOT, I CANT WAIT FOR SEASON 3 THIS NEXT WEEK!!!!!!!

Love the UK version! There are things I like about the US better and there are things I like about the UK better. Superb acting in both shows. Now that the UK has been cancelled, I'm glad we have the US so long as they don't cancel it as well... don't want to think about that!!
