Barbie in the Nutcracker's Origins:
Barbie in the Nutcracker is based on The Nutcracker - a Russian ballet originally choreographed par Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov with a score par Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (op. 71). The ballet was based on The Nutcracker and the souris King - a story par German Romantic auteur E. T. A. Hoffmann.
