I personally think that the Anime was the original and actually looks better then the movie! After all the director cut out some important scenes!

I don't think "fair" is the word you're looking for. In terms of quality the animation totally kicked butt, and should receive more recognition for that quality. Its just too bad that it couldn't have been advertised as widely as the movie was. Its because of that advertising that more people recognize the movie.

The movie did no justice to the cartoon. Only the graphics were good. other then that, the script and plot layout was bad. There was no character development....nothing that resembled why I love the cartoon so much.
