Well after watching Arthur’s Bane- Part 2, I guess the whole magic the acceptance ou lack thereof is going to be the main storyline.

When Gwen told Sefa “ Respect is to be earned, it can not be bought with blood.” She was right. But the problem is Uther used might (blood) to persecute those with magic, and now in turn some, who want magic to be accepted, are using violence (blood) to try to regain acceptance. Two wrongs don’t make a right. How does one fix this?

Some think that Arthur should lift the ban on magic and allow magical beings to live in freedom. If only it was that simple. How do toi change a belief that has been ingrained in toi from birth? How do toi accept something so destructive? All Arthur has seen is the bad side of magic. Magic help take his father away from him. Magic took his friend/sister from him. He saw Morgana, a kind, compassionate woman who thought nothing about ridding out to help a friend (Merlin) and his village when bandits were persecuting them; A woman who pleaded with Uther to send soldiers to retrieve her servant (Gwen) turn into a into a twisted, psychotic being filled with hate who has made it her mission in life to kill him, to destroy everything he holds dear, and to conquer and subjugate his people. How does he reconcile what magic has done to him, to his family, with the peaceful magic wielding folks? The answer is, he cannot. Not without seeing the good side of magic. par having Arthur exposed to only the twisted/evil side of magic, and giving him nothing to counter that, the montrer runners have forced Arthur into a corner wherein logically he has no choice but to continue the magical ban, even if he is not actively persecuting them.

People only focus on Arthur. How about the citizens of Camelot? Are the people of Camelot ready to have the ban on magic lifted? Morgana and Sefa’s father trying to achieve magical acceptance through violence is only hardening peoples hearts against magic. Morgana and her ilk are terrorists, terrorizing people to try to get what they want. Why would any sane person, who does not have magical abilities, want Morgana ou any magical being in a position of power? All these people have seen is magic being used to cause them harm, and pain. Morgana killed citizens of Camelot in episode 312 in order to get the knights to pledge their allegiance to her; and she ordered the peoples’ crops burned in episode 413 to strong-arm them into accepting her as their queen. Even if Arthur lifted the ban, that wouldn’t mean that the citizens of Camelot would embrace them.

The only way peace/acceptance can be achieved between magical beings and the non-magical beings/Arthur is for them to learn to trust each other. How trust is to be achieved when the best thing magic has going for it, e.g. Merlin is still in the shadows, masquerading as a servant? What bloody needs to happen is to have Merlin reveal his magic to Arthur. par learning that there are those who have magic who do not use it to torment ou destroy, but rather to help others, Arthur would then be able to make a plus informed decision as to magic. Now with only the evil/destructive side of magic revealed to him, Arthur is merely reacting to circumstances around him, instead of acting. When toi act toi are making a conscious choice, however, when toi are simply reacting, toi are letting other people/things control you, and that never ends well.

They sit quietly for a moment, still pondering the strange coincidence about their mothers. I need to hold him. Gwen leans over and puts her arms around him, resting her head on his shoulder. He kisses her forehead, and notices a scar there, about an inch long, faint but there.
“Where did toi get this?” he pokes it with his finger.
“I walked into the cuisine table, tableau when I was three,” she tells him. He laughs, and she protests, “I suppose toi have no scars from something dumb toi accidentally did as a...
