I used to think I preferred anime set in other worlds, but when I look at my top ten favourite anime, it's a mixture.

I have a thing for anime set in te world we know. I mean, I have nothing against those set in fantasy worlds, but they are generally there for just that: to give a sense of fantasy and nothing else. It's rare to come by anime that goes into detail with their fantasy world, showing how well thought out they can be and giving a truly interesting setting. A good example of this would be One Piece; probably the only series in my top ten with a unique universe. Aside from that, I prefer something set in our world, making use of myths, references, and pop culture we an understand; all things a unique universe would have to reproduce (usually not at all or badly).

I prefer anime set in our world a lot more these days. Not that I dislike fantasy world anime, but, as Exorcist pointed out, not many anime go into the detail that I would like in anime like that.

It doesn't really matter, but when it came to DBZ it was a little confusing.
