Scene 1:
(Movie starts out at the den. Everyone is there, Kate, Humphrey, the pups, and Garth and Lilly. It's Father's jour and Winston and Eve and Tony will soon be arriving. Humphrey is watching the pups to make sure they don't get into trouble.)
Kate: Humphrey, could toi and Lilly help me finish up Dad's gift? I want it to be perfect.
Humphrey: But Kate, what about the pups?
(Marcel and Paddy arrive.)
Marcel: That is where we come in.
Kate: Marcel, Paddy!
Humphrey: Guys, we're so glad toi could make it.
(Marcel and Paddy look around the den.)
Paddy: Well, it looks like everyone's here.
Lilly: And just in time. They'll be here any minute.
Kate: Which is why we need to hurry up and get this done.
(She motions to Winston's gift. (I need help figuring out what it should be.))
Kate:(to Marcel and Paddy) Would toi mind watching the pups while Humphrey helps me with this?
Marcel: Of course.
(Not much time passes until Winston and the others montrer up. Kate and Humphrey quickly déplacer Winston's gift out of view.)
Kate: Happy Father's Day, Dad. We made something for you.
(They déplacer the gift out of hiding.)
Winston: Oh, Kate it's beautiful. Thank you.
(As Kate and Winston talk, Garth goes and sits suivant to Tony.)
Garth: I wish Mom was here.
Tony: So do I, Garth.
(Movie flashes back to a time many years before when Garth is just a pup. Tony and his mate are leaving for a hunting trip. Scene turns to the hunting trip. The caribou get spooked and stampede. When the dust clears, Tony sees her, lying motionless in the dirt. Movie flashes back to the present.)
Tony: She would be so proud of the loup you've become.
(Movie turns to Humphrey, who is talking to his pup, Runt.)
Runt: Dad?
Humphrey: Yes, Runt?
Runt: Are toi going to visit grandpa today?
Humphrey: Runt, what do toi mean? He's right here.
Runt: No, not him. I mean my other grandpa. toi know, your dad.
(Humphrey gets this troubled look in his eyes, but no one notices it at first.)
Stinky: Yeah Dad, toi never talk about your parents. How come?
Kate: I don't think he's even told me anything about his parents, ou his puphood, for that matter.
(Humphrey remains silent, and the troubled look continues. It becomes apparent that something is troubling him.)
Kate: Humphrey? Are toi okay?
(Humphrey remains silent, and then the movie switches over to what he's thinking about. Flashbacks. Quick flashbacks of his very early puphood. Short shouts from a much younger Humphrey are heard as quick flashes of his parents accompany the screams.)
Kate: Is something wrong?
(The flashbacks continue.)
Young Humphrey: Help!
(Quick flash of light.)
Young Humphrey: Dad, don't them take me!
(Almost as soon as it starts, the flashbacks stop and Humphrey is jerked back into the real world. As his mind comes back online, he sees that everyone in the cave is now looking at him.)
Claudette: Dad, are toi okay?
Humphrey: Yeah, I'm fine. Just, had a little something.
Kate: I think Humphrey just needs some air. Come on.
(Kate leads Humphrey out of the den, onto the rock that juts out from the tanière, den and sits down to talk.)
Kate: What was that about?
Humphrey: Kate. I saw them.
Kate: Wait. toi saw them? Humphrey, who did toi see?
(Humphrey doesn't answer right away. Then, very softly,)
Humphrey: My parents. Kate, I saw my parents.
