Season One:
Paul Hennessy is going to work in his living room while his wife, Cate, goes back to working as a nurse. Being at accueil all the time, Paul is now the one who takes care of his two daughters, Bridget and Kerry, and his son, Rory. During all of season one, we see Paul's parenting skills at work. Later in the season finale, Paul finds a pregnancy test in the trash can, and thinks that it's either Bridget ou Kerry's, when he finds out that it is actually Cate's.
Season Two: In the first episode of season two, Cate awaits to find out whether she is pregnant ou not. When Bridget Kerry and Rory find out that their mother might be pregnant, they think only of themselves, Paul does this as well, which makes Cate upset. At the end of the episode, Cate tells the family that she's not pregnant. The suivant few episodes are of Paul and Cate's parenting skills, and then comes Episode Four, the saddest episode of the whole show. Paul dies unexpectedly in the supermarché while he was buying milk. This one-hour episode is all about the family coping to the unexpected death of Paul. All throughout Season Two, we see the Hennessy family déplacer on from the death of Paul. Also in Season Two, Grandpa and C.J come to live in the Hennessy house. Then in the season finale, it is almost summer vacation, and Bridget is spending the summer in Washington D.C, Kerry is spending the summer in Europe for an Art Program, and Rory, Grandpa, and C.J are going to Flordia to visit Rory and C.J's grandmother (Jim's wife). Cate is going to be all alone for the summer.
Season Three:
It's the end of summer, and everyone is back in the Hennessy house. Cate has remodeled her bedroom, which at first makes the kids upset. And we learn that Kerry Lost her virginity to a guy she met in Paris named Bruno. (Kerry had been in a relationship with Bridget's ex-boyfriend, Kyle.) Throughout season three, we see the romance between Cate and the kids principal, Ed Gibb play out. (Cate and Ed went to high school together, and went on a rendez-vous amoureux, date once.) In the series finale, Cate and Ed are officially dating, and the kids are actually okay with it. At the end of the episode, Ed is offered a job in New York, which means he would have to leave Cate behind.
We never do know if Ed takes the job ou not. What do toi think happened?

The débats that still goes on today is if 8 Simple Rules should have been cancelled right after the "Goodbye" episode.
In my opinion, I think it was the right decision to keep the montrer going because 8 Simple Rules is my absolute favori show. Even though the death of John Ritter was really sad, and the montrer was never really as funny when he was gone, but to me, the montrer wasn't terrible with the add of James Garner and David Spade.
What do toi think? Should the montrer have ended with the "Goodbye" episode, ou have kept' going, like it did?
