One of the greatest things about comic book movies is watching heroes and villains that we know and love just beat the living hell out of each other. That scene in
Avengers where Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America thrash one another in the woods was way awesome, and we cant wait to see Batman and Superman throw down next year. And before too long it appears that we might see two other big heroes, Thor and Hulk, come to blows for our amusement.
It was recently reported that Hulk will appear in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. Mark Ruffalo, who plays the characters human alter ego Bruce Banner, talked to The Daily News about his upcoming Spotlight, and revealed that he expects Hulk and Thor to come to blows. He said:
I think they\'ll probably fight. There\'s no doubt, everyone wants us to fight at one point. Two more or less invincible superheroes having what is sure to be an epic dust up sounds like one hell of a good time to us. Hulk and Iron Man, wearing his Hulkbuster armor, getting into it was one of the highlights of Avengers: Age of Ultron this past summer, and this promises to be even bigger. How can you go wrong pitting the god of thunder against an un-killable green rage monster. The possibility is enough to make you drool.
Though we know Flight of the Conchords Taika Waititi will direct Ragnarok, we dont know a ton about the plot. It doesnt open for more than two years, so thats to be expected.
Following Age of Ultron, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) returns to Asgard to check up on that apocalyptic vision that he has, the one where he sees his home in ruins. Hes bound to encounter his dear brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), in the guise of his father Odin, as well as his usual chums, like Heimdal and the Warriors Three, but beyond that things are up in the air.
What we dont know is how Bruce Banner/Hulk fits into this, though weve got some theories. Banner goes into self-imposed exile at the end of Age of Ultron, and many have speculated that he could leave the planet in order to keep it safe.
Talking about the plot, Mark Ruffalo added that:
I don\'t really know that much about it, but I think it\'s going to be a buddy picture with Thor and Bruce Banner. That also sounds like a damn fine time from where we sit. While we wont be getting a solo Hulk movie anytime soon, if this is true, it could be a meaty part for Banner, and that is something we can totally get behind.
However Thor: Ragnarok shakes out, we still have a long wait ahead of us, as the movie wont be released until November 3, 2017.
