Everyone, myself included, has been speculating about which baddies we will be seeing in the Heroes of Olympus ever since the end of The Last Olympian. I'm here to once again annoy toi to the point of boredom with my opinions and theories. Today I'm discussing the old baddies and throwing in a few new onezs that I think we will become reaquainted with. So, I'll stop rambling on and get to the point.

The Manticore. Yeah, I didn't like him much either, but I can't fight the feeling that he is going to make an appearance in the series. I don't know when and I don't know where, but I know he will be a formidable foe for the unlucky Heroes who traverser, croix his path. As always he is going to be batting for the baddies and rooting for the Queen of Mean, whoever she may be.

Furies Not evil, just a little bit sadistic....but who isn't? I know we are going to see our favourite winged nasties again. The last line of the prophecy pretty much spells that out for us. If we are indeed going to the Underworld, which of course we will be, we are going to run into them again. They aren't really evil so I don't think they will be on the bad side, unless Hades happens to be a big baddie playing for the wrong team.

Circe. Yes, I do believe we will see the creepy Guinea Pig breeder again. She was in the Argonautica and she is just a fun character in general, so I can only assume we will be seeing her again. I don't think she will be part of the baddies, though, because in the Argonautica she wasn't bad, of course that was before turning a bunch of sweaty guys into pigs and all, but still, I think she has changed her ways.

Empousai. I just can't deny the connection between the lead Empousa being called Mistress and the fact that Dylan called his commander "Mistress." Do I think that the Mistress Empousa is the BBG? NO. They aren't that powerful. There is a possibility, though, that they are working for the BBG and, like with Kronos, the lead one is something of a right hand lady. That would mean that she outranks Dylon, thus making her his mistress...maybe I'm wrong, but one thing I do know is that if we see the Empousai they will definately be baddies.

Prometheus. Well, I don't think we will see Prometheus, but someone pretty close to him. See, Prometheus means "Forethought." What some people don't know is that he has a brother named Epimetheus. Epimetheus means "Afterthought." So, when I first read that Prometheus had joined the Titan army in PJO, I knew that Epimetheus would have to be mentioned. I waited with baited breath but he never came, then it came to me. Prometheus was the first, so, of course, he was in the first series, which meant that Epimetheus, the second, would probably appear in the seconde series. I'm hoping to see him, but I'm also hoping that he won't choose to be on either side because that would be horrible. If he were to be on the bad team he would shoot first and ask questions later. If he were on the good team, he might be prone to make dreadful decisions that would lead to very big mistakes. So, for the sake of Camp Half Blood, lets hope that if he is there, that he sits on the sidelines and doesn't do anything. Now, if Prometheus were to be on the good side that would make me the happiest person alive because he is, thanks to his amazing attribute of forethought, one of the most intteligent beings around. (Don't shoot me RoHeHa, I didn't say he was smarter than your Mom)

Echidna and the Chimera. Well, there has been talk about these two for a while. The probability of meeting them again, in my opinion, is very high. Why? Well, Echidna was married to Typhon, and we all know what happened to him in the Last Olympian. So, since her hubby has once again been conquered par the Olympians, I'd say she is pretty POed. She seems to be a pretty ruthless and cruel woman anyway, so I could see her being mad about that, and I can even see her trying to get her revenge. To put the whipped topping on the sponge-cake, she was probably imprisoned ou exhiled, giving her yet another reason to be angry. So, I think we will see her again, as for the chimera, I'm not so sure. She has lots of other monster babies, so there is a good chance that if we do see her again she will have a different beast with her. Wow, I just pictured her as being like an heiress, ya' know, a different dog to match every outfit! Sorry, all, I know that that wasn't funny...it sounded better in my head.

Hyperboreans. Guess who their daddy is? Just guess! Boreas, that's right. Oh, and guess what they can do? Fly, yep, toi guessed it! So, that gives them a connection to Jason, assuming that Jason's immortal parent is Boreas. If they do make a return, which I think and hope they will, it might be to aid their baby brother instead of ransack Manhatten for the Titans. I would also like to note that the Hyperboreans are mentioned par Medea when she is talking to King Pelias in the guise of a Priestess of Artemis.

The Cholchis bulls. They played such a big part in the Argonautica that I can'thelp but believe that they will be back. Thanks to a certain son of Hephaestus, though, I think that they will be requesitioned to the side of good, ou easily taken care of.

The Sphinx. Yes, I think the Sphinx will be back. We just didn't see enough of her, and I feel like there is plus we haven't seen of R.R.'s version of this monster. So, yeah, in my opinion we will see her again, but she will not play a big role.

Ok, so that was the old baddies I felt were worth mentioning, so on to myth baddies.

Drakones Medea. Yeah, toi read it right. These drakons were a dit to pull the chariot of Medea. She used them to get to Athens after she killed her kids and Glauce. If they are anything like other drakons they will attack anyone who gets near them. I don't know how they will fit into the plotline for the series, but I just had a hunch when I read about them.

Teumessian Fox. This thing was mean! It destroyed Thebes and ate kids! It was sent par the gods to punish some people in Thebes for a crime. The real kicker about this renard is that the gods made the thing uncatchable! Fortunately for the people of Thebes, the gods forgot about Lailaps, a dog that was destined to catch anything it persued....guess who felt stupid? Yep, Zeus. And what happens when Zeus feels inferior? He gets mad! So, he decides that the hound is never going to catch the renard so he makes them into the constellations Canis Major and Canis Minor. Some people believe that he turned them into stone instead of making them constellations, but I like the constellations idea better. If the demigods were to encounter this thing it would be fun to watch them try to figure out how to fix the situation....and that seems right up R.R.'s alley!

Gegenees. They were a race of giants with six arms that the ARGONAUTS killed. So the story goes that the Argonauts had landed on this island inhabited par the Gegenees (sons of Gaia) and a race of people descended from Poseidon. The Gegenees never bothered the other inhabitants because of Poseidon, but they got royally POed when the Argonauts showed up. While some of the men went to bring the bateau around to the main harbor and a few others went to the summit of ours mountain the things attacked. Just as the bateau entered the harbor the Gegenees threw boulders down to block up the exit and effectively trap the Argonauts. Well Heracles didn't like that too much so he noched his bow and let his arrows fly. He killed a few and held them off until the rest of the men could rejoindre him and together they brought the giants down. Again, I think this seems like something Mr. Riordan would include. It would provide a challenge for the demigods and it would provide ample action.

Skorpios. So there was this scorpian, right? It was huge! Think Clash of the Titans style scorpian! Well Orion was bragging about how he could slay anything that walked the earth. Gaia got mad and decided to test his mettle. She sent the scorpian to kill him. I guess he couldn't kill every creature on the planet because the scorpian kicked his butt! After the thing killed Orion Zeus set the Scorpian in the sky as the constellation Scorpio. Well that made Gaia feel good, but Artemis wasn't a happy camper. She asked Zeus to put Orion up there with the beast, so, of course, he did. The only thing is that Orion flees from the thing! When Scorpio rises, Orion dissapears! That big chicken!!! Anyway, I think the Skorpios fits! I mean, they start off in a desert so maybe a giant scorpian chases them back to camp, ou something to that degree.

So, I'm fresh out of ideas for the day. I hoped toi enjoyed lire the seventh installment of the H of O article series. Make sure toi head over to the link thread and leave your vote for the suivant topic. I'll see toi suivant time, when I will be bringing toi fresh theories and information straight from the over that is my brain. CIAO
