Is there a third volume to fraise panic manga? and what's the future of this anime?

ok, i've seen this animated series a many many times, and it gets me every single time. I always tear up, but i feel that it ends so...i guess abruptly. It leaves little to no closer for the viewer. I've donné up hope for any sort of continuation although lord knows i desire it plus than anything. Even a simple OVA of an episode ou two i'd be cool with, but sadly..nada :-(. So they say that the the light novel was good and provided much needed closure, so i got it, and have now,finished it. And they were right it did bring me closure.Now, i want to check out the manga. Old articles say that it was discontinued after volume 2 but i went online and found a 3rd volume called "3rd wheel" what's that all about. So my questions, and please NO SPOILERS, does the manga provide closure? And is it worth the read? If it ends on a sad note forget that! It would kill me just like the animé did leaving us all hanging. I don't want to go through that again.
