The earliest I remember knowing about Sonic was when my neighbor, Donald, was playing what I would later figure out was one of the Advance games. He’d mess with me at times, making up stuff for it, like Sonic having pop corn, maïs soufflé power, and since I had no idea what it was about, I believed it. However SONIC the character is not who I noticed.
When I saw him scrolling through the character choices, for the first time I saw Miles “Tails” Prower. When I saw him I asked who he was. Donald told me he was an inventor and Sonic’s sidekick. I was very into inventing (Made a cattle prod at about that time if you’d believe it.), so I started getting anything I could of that involved Tails. (Sadly only Google pics is what I could find… no I didn’t find any nasties.)
And thus began my first Sonic fan Character… kind of. Basically what happened was I was getting tired of seeing Tails as a “Oh no! Help me Sonic!” (Usually in the Sonic Riders opening, seriously I can’t stand that part to this day.) so I created a sort of “secret form” for him, that he was an ancient warrior to save people from whatever villain (did not know about Turbo Tails yet). The character was called “Saraduct”. He was a blue fox, with like… six tails, giant twin-bladed swords (Based on the Buster Sword from Final Fantasy, but not in the way toi think. I got the idea from Sonic X Final Fantasy, the rpg games, I didn’t even know about Final fantaisie then.), and of course a lot of power.
I had a story for him, a past l’amour interest, and over time I got some other characters. But I was still a bit… NOOBish about the franchise so I wanted some of the games myself.
I wasn't allowed to play Sonic games at first. Eventually though I got my first computer (dumb Laptop, would later be broken par little brother. Typical.), and I was hyped to play something on it.
Through the power of Ebay I believe, I got Sonic 3D Blast, and Sonic R. I liked Sonic R much more, but while I do agree Sonic 3D Blast is one of the worse Sonic games, I could still enjoy it at times.
Sonic R DID leave a bigger impact, for characters alone. And no I didn’t get scared of Tails Doll… just… confused honestly… and annoyed that Super Sonic would always beat me when I played as Tails Doll. But I had the characters WAY out of whack. I thought Knuckles was the Shadowy character as an example, to say nothing of thinking Super Sonic was his own character.
But while those games were fun, it didn't get me familiar with Sonic due to Sonic 3D Blast having very little story, barely any characters, and Sonic R not having any story. So it was cool but I wanted to know the characters better.
It would be about two years until I got an actual mainstream Sonic Game, at least one with dialogue and story… plus story. In the meantime, my early Years of Youtube, and Yahoo vidéos (year remember those?) helped. I eventually saw the Sonic 06 trailer, LATE, thinking “THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER!” due to never seeing anything about the game. I even thought Silver was another form for Sonic, when he put on certain gloves.
Here’s what I originally thought the plot of Sonic 2006 was. Sonic and co are being attacked par big bad whatever, and they’re looking for a special power called “Iblis Trigger”. Sonic finds the trigger, the gloves (again this is what I THOUGHT it was.), and went and did whatever stuff.
In short I wouldn’t find out how bad it was for many years later. But then I finally got one.
For Christmas of 2007, I got what is to this jour my favori Sonic Game; SONIC HEROES.
I know people kept getting ticked at the Egg Emperor's cheapness, ou the tediousness of the four teams, but really, I loved every minute of it, and I'd be playing it now if it weren't for my computer NOW being a dumb thing and not playing games like that even though it could PERFECTLY WELL before. *psy*
I loved every single character (Shadow Duh!), and I never got bored. It was the only Sonic game I had for about two years, and then… 2008. October to be exact, on my sister’s birthday something came in the mail for me (ironic.). I had sent in one of my Saraduct pics (I would later rename the character Starcher, sound familiar?) to SEGA, and they sent me Sonic the hedgehog comic issue 177. And that’s when I saw what would become my other, ou NEW favori sonic character to this day: NICOLE.
I loved the story then, because it was a perfect spot to get a bit of a recap about how different the comics were to the games. There was a narration about it in the first few pages. I soon got to know a few of the characters, and get interested in others, but I wanted plus comics.
So I sent in plus art and such, and got back plus comics. The seconde comic I got was Sonic 179 (yeah out of order, don’t know why), which involved Sonic and Tails being enemies. Very interesting comic. After that I got issue 171, Shadow issue (yay), and involved Mara, so I was quite interested. That was followed par 130, another really deep issue (The kiss… and slightly too much detail into Sally’s… appearance.). Aaaaaaand after that I got Hedgehog Havoc, Silver’s first appearance, and some others. In short the story was all over the place and I wanted to know plus about it.
FINALLY in 2010 I believe, for my birthday I got a subscription, and fifty past comics. I caught up and became much plus interested in the comics than the games. BUT that didn’t mean the games didn’t catch my eye as well.
Since I couldn’t play almost any Sonic Games, Youtube saved me with walkthroughs. Sonic and the Black Knight, Sonic Unleashed, and eventually Sonic 2006 (STILL DIDN’T KNOW IT WAS BAD, would later). I watched a lot of them. par that time, I had made about twenty other characters, with my main one still being Starcher. (Around late 2009 I believe) I started to tweak things. And that one character finally got his due.

THAT was the original Tak. Yeah he got changed obviously, and would later become the character I know use as my sort of Self-insert, but he’s still not my main character, though he is quite used in stories.
Starcher’s story was changed, everyone’s was, along with powers, and you’ve got the Seven Servers, Dark Dareth (who I would thankfully rename over time), and the very, first, Virus.
Quick recap of Virus for those who are interested. *Deep breath* Started out as a run-of-the-mill, destroy everything villain for my first fanfic about Nicole, and after that I liked the character so much, I decided to use her more, and we have what she is now. Blah da blah (I’ve got a plus detailed article about it, but it has SO many spoilers.)
So technically the Nicole Story “Move Along” (re-writing eventually because of ‘oh-my-bad-this-is-bad’.) was my first fanfic, but my first official fanfic was “Lizzy Eventide: Eternal”, which I’ve actually finished, and am halfway through the seconde book of writing. I’m planning on not re-writing it, but editing a lot since it’s so old, and was a rush job for NanoWrimo. If toi read it you’ll actually find where I got the idea for the identities, and the V RP.
So after V RP, we got Rin, and in Mobius Academy, we got Rynk. Others followed. I was still lire the comics (Iron Dominion Saga – Present), and getting a bit annoyed at what people were saying about Sonic games I quite enjoyed (Not including Sonic 06 for reasons we all know.), and while I’m not liking the current direction is both the games ou the comics, I’m still a hardcore fan, and the entire franchise inspired what I have today.
