Sia’s New Song ‘Alive’ Will Give You The Juice You Need To Get Out Of Bed Every Morning
This Is Acting track, originally meant for Adele, is mega powerful.
Sia’s new song is all about survival. And if you’re still breathing, you’ve already got what it takes to survive the next hardship.
“Alive,” the first single off the upcoming This Is Acting, was originally written for Adele and features writing credits from her and Tobias Jesso Jr. (who supposedly is working on Adele’s album, expected in November). Unlike her confessional 1000 Forms of Fear, Sia’s seventh album is called This Is Acting because all of its songs were intended for other people, according to RTV Slovenija.
This Sia Movie News Will Make You Swing From The Chandeliers
“It’s about Adele’s life, so I now sing a song from Adele’s perspective,” Sia said. “This is the first song from this new project. I’m calling it
This Is Acting because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn’t go into it thinking, ‘This is something I would say’. It’s more like play-acting. It’s fun.”
Nevertheless, the Australian songwriter has control over the song as if it’s about her own life, singing with a crazy, wild voice that cracks and spills out of her with both the strength and weakness of someone who’s been through some real sh–.
“I had made every single mistake/ That you could ever possibly make,” she sings on “Alive.” “I took and I took and I took what you gave/ But you never noticed that I was in pain.”
The most powerful part of the song — besides the booming bass, cinematic synths and her soaring vocals — is the chorus, which echoes only a few words over and over again.
“I’m still breathing/ I’m still breathing/ I’m still breathing/ I’m still breathing/ I’m alive/ I’m alive/ I’m alive/ I’m alive.”
