Section 2/ watch your words, they become your actions
We all went to the professor’s home. He does not live far, just the other side of knothole. His accueil is a museum, the historical museum of Mobius and beyond. His house is the small room on the far left, it is just a bedroom.
He was in his private study, in the back of the museum. We knocked on the door, there was no answer. We knocked again, this time he replied, “it is open!” we entered. Everything in the room was perfect, almost too perfect. He stood up and greeted us.
Professor cornichon, pickle is not that tall, only 5’ 10”. He has large bushy eyebrows, and his cloths were old and ragged.
“professor pickle, we have a situation. We need to know why shadow suddenly got these, abilities. montrer him shadow.” Sally said. I looked at her, then at professor pickle, he looked attentive and focused. I gulped. Then I closed my eyes, and thought through the same memories as when I shape shifted. Then I opened my eyes, only this time I felt light headed.
He looked at me and thought about what I just did. He then said, “follow me.”
He leads us to a bibliothèque in the museum. cornichon, pickle began looking through the books, then the journals, but then he pulled out a scroll. The scroll was old and faded, but it was readable.
He opened it up, and inside was shocking. Memories and thoughts flooded my mind. “most of this I can’t translate,” professor cornichon, pickle said, “the language is a Lost font, and I can’t figure out what they are saying.” “how about the pictures?” sonic asked. There were pictures written all over the scroll, some looked familiar…
“shadow, can toi understand any of this?” tails asked me. I looked at the scroll, I thought about each symbol, and each picture. “it is hard for me to translate; it is written in the old tongue. The language was discontinued over 35 million years ago, during the reign of the 5th ou 6th kings. Then darkian was made.”
They all looked at me, astounded. “but the pictures are familiar, that one depicts the current kings, doom, death, and iblis.” I continued. “but if these are the current kings, why is the scroll so old?” tails asked. I replied, “this scroll looks to have been written when the kings were anointed. There no mentions of me ou my family.”
“your family?” sally asked. I looked up from the scroll, they were all looking at me. That is when I noticed my mistake.
“I, um, it…” I began to try to find an excuse for what I said. “well, the time lines when Gerald had me…” great, I thought, how am I going to finish that sentence? And black doom nearly destroyed the world? ou when I was an experiment? “and when black doom found me.” I finished.
They all looked at me in disbelief. I was almost too embarrassed to speak, but I choked out “that is all I wish to say.”
“Can toi morph again, so I can observe better?” professor cornichon, pickle asked me. I still felt light headed still, but I did it anyway. I closed my eyes and concentrated, but then my head burned. All went black.
When I awoke, I was back home. At GUN headquarters that is. I sat up and looked around, then my head throbbed. Laid back down and stared at the ceiling. What happened? I thought, did I black out ou faint? “shadow.” A voice called, I looked around, no one was there.
I thought it was just my head, but in then again… “remember the song to go home…” the voice continued, but it was so familiar. “eclipse?” I whispered. Nothing. Then I thought it, eclipse? “yes?” he replied. Brother I thought toi were dead! I’m so sorry for all I did in the past, I want to make up for it all but… “don’t worry, we will see each other again.” He said.
“shadow?” hope a dit walking into my dorm. “yes,” I a dit sitting up. She had breakfast on a plat, plateau with her. “you came back unconscious; we were all worried. But a doctor took a look at toi and he a dit toi would be alright.” She pasted me the nourriture and I ate it. “how did toi pass pout anyway?”
I realized I had not told her about me shifting abilities. “you would not believe me if I told you.” She giggled, “I highly doubt that.” I looked at her, then I sighed. “fine, yesterday the freedom fighters restored most of my memories, I found out I have shape shifting abilities, and apparently if I use the ability too much, I pass out.”
She was stunted. “told you.” I said, “no, it’s just, shape shifting?” she said. “yes.” I replied. “alright.” She a dit suddenly. “really? You’re just going to believe me just like that?” “why not? It is what Friends do.” I smiled at her, she smiled back.
The suivant day, I went out to discover plus of my new abilities. I shifted into my darkling form again. I found that I can climb trees really well, even head first down the tree, I am stronger than before, I can run on my fours early, and I now have a prehensile tail.
Little did I know, I was being watched the whole time.
At first there was silence. Then a noise. My ears perked up, u listened to see which direction it came from. I heard breathing. I spun around and got down on my fours, growling. Then, my watcher stepped out from behind a tree. “Locke!?!” I yelled. He looked at me, “so knuckles was telling the truth, the Lost prince has returned.” The wha?” I asked. “come with me, I will explain everything.”
Now, I know better than to follow Locke blind. He kidnaped me, hurt me, and just plain insults me.
“why?” I asked him suspiciously. “because, don’t toi remember? Darkling lived with the echidna millions and millions of years ago.” I stared at him. He got on one knee so he was eye level with me, and extended his hand. “come, trust me.” Still on my fours, I crept up to him. I sniffed his hand. With his other hand, he reached over and stroked me. “see, toi have nothing to fear.” He a dit in the kindest voice.
He stood up and beaconed for me to follow. I looked back in the direction of home, then at Locke, and back again. “come, shadow, I will help you.” He called. I looked at him, waiting. Then I gave in and followed him.
He led me to his home, On Angel island. He took me in, and fed me, then he brought me to a small bibliothèque in his village.
“sit there.” He told me, pointing to a small stack of pillows. I sat down and watch as he looked through the shelves. He pulled out three livres and a scroll. One of the livres he opened, “what do toi remember?” he questioned me. “um… not much.” I replied. “anything of your home? Species? Kingdom?” he looked at me, kindly. “well, I do remember an island, in the middle of the sea. And hundreds of my kind. And how I lived in a castle!” he chuckled. “do toi remember when toi first opened your eyes?” “sort of, but it is really fuzzy.” I said, sounding upset. “it is not a bad thing, at least toi remember it. toi were only 2 decs old.” “decs?” I asked him. “yes.” he replied.
He pulled out another book and flipped through it. He looked at one page. “A dec is a darkling year. In mobian, it is equivalent to 10 years.” “I was 20 when I first opened my eyes!?!” “yes, and toi were still an infant. toi are only 15 and a half decs now.” “decs? I AM 155 YEARS OLD!?!?” “and still a baby, it says here the oldest living darkling was two million, three thousand and twenty-five decs old. Not much older than the suivant oldest.” He said, being surprised himself. “so, I’m not immortal, but I am one of the oldest living species on the earth.” “not just the earth, but the galaxy.” He told me.
I was astonished. I was going to outlive everyone I knew, and thousands plus in generations!
par the time we left the library, it was nearly night. He offered for me to stay at his accueil that night. I accepted.
He made me a nice lit in his room. It was on the floor, but was so comfy. It looked like a nest, but out of blankets and pillows. I slept great that night.
In the morning, I looked and saw that Locke and his wife were still asleep. I crept out of lit and snuck past what looked like knuckles’s room, but he is out guarding the master emerald. I got our side, it was still cold out, and no one was up yet. I went into the forests to get a snack. I found a wild squirrel. I caught it and at it. Still hungry, I kept searching.
It was not long before I decided to go back to the village. As I was headed back I heard someone scream. I listened, it was coming from the village!
I ran like the wind back. When I got there, there were even plus echidnas, the D.E.L. clan was attacking the knuckles clan. I looked around, wondering what I should do. I looked and found Locke’s house, on feu with him, his wife and mace, there son, being threatened par an echidna.
Another instinct struck, I leaped onto my fours and ran at the echidna. He looked at me and screamed. Then the unsuspected happened, I leaped at him and bit his neck. I released him when he was on the ground. Blood drooled from my mouth. I looked at the suivant D.E.L. echidna, he was frightened, par me. I attacked him too, this time, I used my claws and sliced his stomach. Then I spotted Lein-da, the leader of the D.E.L. clan. She raised a dagger at me, and approached.
“you,” she said. “what are toi doing?” “protecting these innocent foke.” I said, growling.
I looked plus menacing than I should, being covered in blood. I advanced on her. She did the same. We were now circling each other, only 7 feet apart. “you are now match for me.” She said. “I am the ultimate life form. I can take toi on any day.”
I ran right at her, I leaped. But I was not fast enough.
She raised the dagger and stabbed me on the side. I stumbled when I landed face first on the ground.
She laughed, “see, toi will never be as strong as me.” She chuckled and left. I pushed myself up, and ran. I didn’t want everyone to see my failure. I kept running to the end of Angel island, and stopped right at the edge. I needed to get off the island.
“Shadow? Shadow! Come back!” Locke called from a distance. I couldn’t go back, I had to go. I thought of the best way to escape, to fly. I had no wings, but maybe I could grow some. I concentrated, I focused all my might on wings. I felt something sprouting from my back, it was working. When I opened my eyes, a pair of large feathered wings surrounded me. They were black at the top, red in the middle, and white on the bottom.
I looked behind he and heard them coming closer. I leaped, and beat my wings, and flew.
At first it felt free, like nothing could get to me. I felt the wing, the warmth, the air, it felt like I was back on the ARK. I closed my eyes and embraced it. But then I felt pain, a cramp in my side. When I opened my eyes, I wobbled in the air, and fell.
My left wing had cramped up; I couldn’t déplacer it. I was too low to the ground to catch any air, I just fell. Bellow was a ruin of an old city from long, long ago. I crashed head first into the ground, I was not rendered unconscious, but I had my eyes closed. I stayed there for a long time. My left wing under me, broken. My other wing, wrapped around me to keep me warm.
par the time the sun began to set, I was asleep. But I was not alone.
A Tasmanian devil dog sniffed me, and whined. “what is it sis?” thrash the Tasmanian devil asked. Him and his family came up to me. Thrash looked down at me, then from where I fell from. “filthy echidnas, no respect for anyone. They must have broken his wings and trône the poor lad over.” He knelt down suivant to me and rolled me over. He looked at my wing, “it is fixable, salut mate, can toi hear me?” he said. He picked up my head, “brother, here.” One of the devil chiens laid down for me to use as a pillow. “come now mate, I’m going to take toi back to my place to take care of that wing. I know some Friends who can help.”
