IQ is a little pointless anyways, I believe I tested a bit with the MENSA thing cos my therapist insisted and Im probably about 146 or something if I converted my score on the MENSA pretest thing - 140+ tho so XD

IQ really is just a score of how well you brain recognizes patterns and connects ideas and problem solves, but it has little to do with how ACTUALLY smart you are and all of that is dependent on a lot of things. Its more appropriately used for those that score under as it shows functional disabilities that people suffer from that is not to their fault and should be given aid to assist with. Once you are above the "concern level" it really shouldn't be taken as too big of a deal imo

That being said it is a cool thing to know

^Hmm makes sense like me I struggle with an learning disability, like the ability not to learn things as fast people do. It takes a longer time and sometimes help to understand like math because in math you have many steps you have to take to solve a problem. ...but of course it doesn't make me less smarter like you mentioned. Also I really don't know the score of my IQ because it change's all the time.

agree with Riku

I was tricked into taking part of an IQ test when I was 12 or 13; I think I was in the 130s.

Pretty sure I am pretty high. I've been complimented on how fast my brain recognizes patterns/etc but never been tested.

Apparently it's between 90-140. I know. Really ineffectual and difficult to believe results. On the other hand, I am a believer that intelligence quotient is quite irrelevant, unless you deal with puzzles and patterns on a regular basis. Intelligence, as a whole, is much more than that. Also, I believe that most people don't even realise that there are actually quite a number of factors that influence intelligence beyond that of the IQ test. As far as what Cattell reasoned, long-term and short-term memory, fluid intelligence, crystallized/acquired intelligence, quantitative reasoning, long-term storage, visual and auditory processing, processing speed and reaction/decision making time/speed are all factors that influence the intelligence/talent of any human being capable of such exemption. It's all very well to be under the understanding that IQ is the only factor that influences intelligence, but understanding all of the cognitive brilliances is a large part of gaining more intelligence, recognising that everyone has flaws and noting the pointlessness of only looking at one particular theory on the subject at hand.

@Riku. I love how problem-solving is the most recognised one, because living in the real world and holding down a job is where problem-solving becomes a very important thing, especially in conjunction with mathematics and English.

@Blaze Yeah pretty much. Someone with a below average IQ can still be as smart as someone else, but would have to put a lot more work and need more assistance to be able to obtain and understand the knowledge and information. Its a bit of a misconception people have about people with a below average / low IQ.

I agree with Riku. IQ tests are over simplifying the whole concept. There are many types of intelligences and IQ tests are designed to assess your mental processes, give the general idea and are good for identifying extreme cases but they can't tell accurately how 'intelligent' you are. If you're still interested in it then it's better to take a certified test like Cattell instead on those shady online ones.
