Hi guys, I've seen a lot of people on the Internet saying that Notre-Dame de Paris as if it was completely destroyed! But hopefully it wasn't thanks to Paris' firemen, and most of the cathedral is saved

I just wanted to do this quick article to explain in what have been saved and what hasn't
I wanted to mettre en ligne pictures which would've been much better but for some reason I can't except for two that i can't even place where i want in the article, i'll try to fix this later -_-

What is gone

The Arrow

Culminating at 93 meters in the sky of Paris, the Arrow of Notre-Dame did not resist the flames. Its reconstitution of the Arrow should however not pose any problems. It had already been reconstructed par Eugène Viollet-Le-Duc in the nineteenth century.

The framing
The frame of the Notre-Dame cathedral was nicknamed "the forest", for its entanglement of beams, all oaks, built in 1220. This jewel of medieval architecture, one of the oldest constructions of its kind, is now reduced in ashes.

What has been saved

Holy relics
Jesus’ crown, St Louis tunic and a fragment of the original wood of the traverser, croix of Christ, 24 cm long, preserved since 1805 in Notre-Dame in a crystal case, and one of the nails of the Passion have been released in time.

Statues
The Arrow has collapsed, but luckily 4 days ago, the 16 statues around the Arrow have been removed to get restored

The vitrals
The three roses of Notre-Dame which rendez-vous amoureux, date from the twelfth and thirteenth centuries have been also saved. But saldy, others some stained glass windows have been damaged in the building, though they are much plus recent, dating back to the 19th century.

The copper cock
At the haut, retour au début of the spire of the cathedral that lit under the weight of the flames, the copper cock (which is the symbol of France) was finally found in the rubble! Within it was indeed a relic of St. Genevieve and a relic of St. Denis - patron saints of the city of Paris - as well as one of the 70 thorns of the crown of Christ. Objects supposed to protect the Parisians.

The altar cross
The white traverser, croix of the altar remained standing inside the cathedral, surrounded par rubble and soot

We don't know yet

the great organ
the minister of culture, Franck Riester, measured his words. If it is "too early to make a total diagnosis", he nevertheless a dit that "the organ seems to be quite damaged".

Paintings
Many paintings usually adorn the walls of the Notre-Dame cathedral, but we do not know how many paintings were released in time. Monseigneur Michel Aupetit remained worried on Tuesday morning because "some of the paintings are set on the wall", and therefore could not be removed. They will be removed Friday and safely transported to the Louvre reserves where they will be dehumidified and restored

Here's a photo of it on the outside:

And what now?

The Notre-Dame is going to be rebuild, already a lot of money (700 millions) has been given. The French president, Emmanuel Macron a dit he wants to do that in 5 years, but it's unrealistic and will plus likely take 10 to 20 years. We are very lucky to have exquisite 3D laser maps of every detail of Notre Dame.

The cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris isn't gone! Something similar happened to another french cathedral, Notre-Dame de Reims, during WW1, and has been completely rebuild since!
