Free will is a unique concept. Many describe it as the power to act without the necessity of fate, but the cold truth is that free will was never meant to exist to begin with.

From the very beginning of time, the universe has run on order. It has to. The universe is infinite. It is immensely complicated and to deal with that level of complexity, the universe adapts and changes to bring the best result. The simplest result. A planet will be in just the right place at just the right time and life will form. That life form will do what it needs to without the constraint of something as reckless as free will until it evolves. Eventually, that organism will reach a stage where it can be called sentient. That organism will reproduce and spread out, fully inhabiting the planet they call their home. Sometimes, the population would need to be controlled and circumstances would lead to a flood, or a plague, or a war. When all is said and done, and that species has had it's run, a planet wide catastrophe would strike and it would all be wiped away, leaving nothing behind...then on another planet, positioned at the exact right place in the exact right time...life would form. The process would repeat until that species once again met it's end, but like all rules, there are exceptions.

What will happen when a species is formed like all others, and they end up being known as 'human', but unlike the others, they are different. Every choice they make is entirely their own. They look destiny in the eyes and they tell it to go to hell. The universe adapts, but the humans adapt just as quickly. No matter what is thrown at them. things that normally decimated populations like floods and plagues do not work for more than an instant before the humans come back stronger than ever. So what else could be done? They had to be ended before they ruined the natural order. Humans had to die, but if anything has been learned, it's that they certainly won't go quietly and with the conventional methods proven unreliable, how will they destroy the human plague? Simple. If the humans free will was what gave them their strength, then the universe simply had to break that will. So Fate and many other powerful ideas were given humanoid form and sent down to Earth to personally eradicate the thought of free will from existence.

But what caused the free will in the first place? Was it a natural progression of the human species or was there something more to it than that? The answer to that lies in an orb that the humans discovered many years ago. The origins of this orb date back to the very creation of the Earth itself. This orb, which the humans named "The Eterna Orb" is unique and possesses the power to make anything happen. This power is even strong enough to surpass the strength of the universe itself, but The Orb was impossible to control. So rather than being taken when the humans found it and trying to harness the powers to use to their own spoils, the humans hid The Orb away far from any civilization protected under riddles and all, with only a handful of humans with the knowledge of The Orb. These humans formed a clan, known as The Eterna Clan, to protect The Orb from being abused and to try to hold it back from doing anything that could cause harm to humans.

Plot:

The general idea is to protect or destroy the orb. The goal of the universe is to destroy the orb and restore the natural balance. The goal of the humans is to protect the orb and their free will.


Powers:

Fate: The powers of Fate is the ability to alter someone's destiny at will, but because of The Orb, humans are immune to the effects so Fate relies on it's less efficient Mental or telekinetic abilities.

Emotion: The powers of Emotion is the ability to manipulate someones emotions with a simple touch. They also possess the ability to send out a single emotion over a wide area to infect a large number of people with a simple emotion, like rage or love. Emotion users can also read the emotions of people who are nearby.

Weakness: The orb makes her ability to alter someone's destiny at will nothing. It takes her time and focus to see into the future. To see into the past, she has to come in contact with the item to get the information.

Bio: Azuya wasnt born and she isnt human. Like the rest of the Fragments, Azuya was there since the time of the universe started. Due to the odd happening coming from Earth and the humans going against their fate, Azuya, along with the other Fragments, manifested themselves in a human form to figure out what was exactly going on. Since manifesting herself, Azuya took her time to take a look around the way Earth and these humans lived their life. The thoughts of these humans with this 'free will' intrigued her. It wasnt something that was normal, and while she wished to know more about this free will and how the humans used it to go against the order of the universe along with the fates she set, Azuya found herself focused on the goal. The order had to be kept and if it was this free will that was getting in the way, then Azuya knew it had to go. Over the time of manifesting herself on Earth along with the other fragments that have come alongside her to destroy this free will, Azuya set up a base where she could have as the center point during her research and plans to break this free will as well as the place where the other fragments could come to meet up with her if need be.

Weakness: Her own emotions cause her powers to become unstable so she usually hides her emotions. Locking them away.

Bio: Like all fragments, Kotone has always existed and when she was sent to Earth to assist Fate and the others in destroying this so called "free will" that the humans had, she originally had no complaints, but as she spent more and more time on Earth, that feeling became less certain and pretty soon Kotone was having trouble locking away that portion of her emotions. Kotone was curious, and she was worried, and above all of that, she was scared. So Kotone decided that she had to know for sure exactly what it was that she and the other fragments were here to destroy. She kept this a secret from the other fragments though. They would not understand. When she found The Eterna Clan, she convinced them to allow her to join them. Kotone was obviously disguised so they would not ever realize who she was. As she spent more and more time with them. That uncertainly began to grow stronger and stronger until finally, Kotone was sure that the fragments were going to destroy something that should never be destroyed. The free will of the humans should be preserved...so Kotone, now under the name Emi, began to fight against them secretly, while still mainaining her job as the fragment of emotion.

Abilities: She does not possess any abilities which is rather unusual for a fighter.

Weakness: She does not have any abilities though she makes up for it with incredible skill.

Bio: Emi Passhon was a mysterious girl that just showed up one day, practically at The Eterna Clan's doorstep, and asked to join them. The Clan was suspicious at first, but after a rigorous series of tests and questionings, they finally agreed that she was who she said she was and allowed her to join The Eterna Clan. She was one of the very few humans who ever earned a place in the clan, and nobody denied that decision. There was just something about Emi. She radiated a sense of...well...trust. Everyone felt at ease around her. Her words were funny and sweet and even when she said something wrong, it was just so cute that they couldn't be suspicious. Of course, that in itself was suspicious, but so long as Emi, or rather Kotone, the fragment of emotion, continued to use her powers on them, she would be fine. Emi was not just a nice person to be around. Her skills in fighting and her knowledge of the world was incredibly helpful. At first, she wanted to know everything and grew upset when she was denied, but after awhile, she seemed to grow happy with the slow everyday life. There were times when Emi would disappear for days on end, but would always return with that same smile and feeling of reassurance.

Name: Xavier Hayden

Abilities: Xavier has a version of precognition that allows him to see through an attack or ability before he actually sees it in person. He is also given the ability to change his energy into weapons and cast a signature magic, the symbol is imprinted on his right hand

Weakness: His precognition doesnt tell him directly how to avoid or counter an attack, just how it works and what it does. He has to figure out the avoiding and countering himself. Also, the precognition is not automatic or doesnt react when he is in the sense of danger, he has to active it himself. (Thus why it had not caught Emi) His magic is rather hard to control at time and carries a bit of the randomness the Orb has, thus he uses the gloves to seal them when they are unneeded

Bio: Xavier was born a member of the Eterna Clan and to be even more specific, the son of the current head of this clan that had been running for years. Because of this, Xavier was raised a well taught life as the heir to the seat of being the head of the clan and obtained abilities from the orb at a rather young age, one of which was his special version of precognition that matched his odd heterochromatic eyes. Another ability though carried a rather wild ability of casting magic which was quickly found to be pretty random, much like the Orb, and despite a few years of training and practice, it refused to obey completely. This caused the Eterna Clan to develop a glove from Xavier to seal the magic for the most part so it wouldnt bother his 'average' life at school. Between learning about fighting, abilities, and average school, Xavier was taught about the history of the Eterna Clan and what was known of the Eterna Orb, that of which he found a bit boring, but nonetheless, he listened and learned. Since then, Xavier had been taught to be the next head of the Eterna Clan while currently playing the role of the heir of the Eterna Clan pretty accurately

Name: Akashi Gunshin

Abilities: Akashi has the abilities to cause people to draw out their more negative and hateful sides of a person like envy, anger, and wrath in a chosen direction. He also is given the ability to manipulate shadows to his need.

Weakness: While Akashi can cause a person to act out their more negative and hateful sides, he can reverse the affect without the aid of another emotion manipulator or a counterpart. Also that beign said, Akashi is a cross between Destruction and Emotion allowing him to take bits from both, but in either case, his abilities are inferior to the fragment of destruction and the fragment of emotion.

Bio: Akashi is a fragment that was founded adapted from abilities coming from both fragments of destruction and emotion which allowed him to take abilities from both. Though his time, he was in charge of bringing out the hate and fighting in those living, that of which would normally be one of the large causes for the end of a planet. He brought war and ruined relationships, it was the way he rolled. When he came to Earth alongside Fate to destroy free will and bring back order, Akashi didnt care to question it. Between the failure to bring ruin and an end to the humans, they always managed to survive. It wasnt that he was a hardcore follower of the order of the universe, but Akashi was rather just getting bored of dealing with the same people for such a long time. He wanted to start a new and see what they could serve. Since, Akashi had been working alongside Fate, or Azuya, to crush the free will that these humans have somehow managed to get their hands on to restore order and having some fun messing with humans while he was still manifested.

(Another reason he had not caught on to Emi is that she has not made any dangerous moves against them so there is no danger to be warned of. In addition, her emotion abilities have so far only been used to implant mild feelings of well being, trust, and calm. Not at all threatening so it too would not trigger his ability.)

Abilities: Artemis has the ability to look at something and see it's weaknesses or problems. For example, if he looked at a suit of armor, he could immediately see the armor's weak spot if it had one. If he were looking at a broken down car, he could see exactly what was wrong with it.

Weakness: Most of the time, Artemis' abilities are unfocused and generally useless, but Artemis has learned to focus his abilities using his goggles. So much so that he is even a little dependant on the goggles.

Bio: Artemis was born as a full fledged member of the Eterna Clan like most everyone else. He did everything he was supposed to and was generally happy to do so. When he was taken to the Eterna Orb and he gained his powers, he was more excited than he had ever been, but he soon realized that these powers weren't going to be mastered right off the bat. Artemis realized he would have to train hard to master these new abilities. The current head of the Clan suggested to him that he use the goggles to focus his powers, and it worked like a charm. The only problem was it gave him a reputation of being a "shop guy" at the school where he and Xavier attended. Though after a few of those classes, Artemis realized that he actually was interested in mechanics. So with that he decided to work on maintenence for all the Clan's equipment.

Abilities: she can slow down time in her own perspective, giving herself more time to think about her tactics, however, time will remain normal for other people. (So basically she can think really fast ==|||)

Weakness: Minik is easily distracted, her mind does not give her extra space to think about other things, once she's distracted, she will become one of the easy-to-kill targets.

Type: Illusion

Abilities: Roya can make a person see any illusion by skin-to-skin contact. It will only last 5 minutes in the real world, but can feel up to 24 hours in the false universe the person sees. She can create any illusion and the person cannot be released from it until the illusion ends or they have an ability that counteracts it. Even if the person has been hit by the ability before, they will typically not know it is an illusion unless they have an ability that allows them to.

Weakness: She cannot use her abilities on the same person within 24 hours. Her ability will backfire if she breaks this rule and she will be stuck in an illusion for the full time; if there is no intended illusion or the intended illusion is not long enough, she will be stuck in empty space for what feels to be 24 hours.

Bio: Roya was created from the fragment of illusions and fantasy, something that used to make life happy. She was the force of dreams, both good and bad. When Fate asked her to come and break the will of humans she agreed out of resentment, thinking that the humans had gotten so arrogant that they didn't need her anymore. She is a slight space-case when not working, preferring to think of new illusions rather than deal with the other Fragments. She enjoys both dark and light illusions, but preferred causing whatever will cause the largest reaction. Not quite a sadist, but she takes enjoyment out of people's reactions; they usually happen to be negative.

Other: She's never sure how her ability will react to her thoughts, so she keeps most of her skin covered.

(So, just a couple things. 1: What's the policy on changing/updating character abilities? I just realized the other night that if Roya is the Fragment for dreams and whatnot then only having her ability work 3 times per 24 hours seems kinda useless if that's her main thing. I'm not sure what's OP or not, so if you think that having the rule of 3 times/24 hrs is too much that's fine and I'll leave it as is. The rule of only 1 person/24 hrs wouldn't change though.
Also, 2: Just a heads up, I won't be able to do anything until after 3:00 (possibly 4:00 on some days) pm Eastern. Sorry about that, and I hope that won't be too much of an issue.)

(There is no limitations to changing/updating your characters abilities. As for Roya's abilities. My opinion is that if she can only affect 1 person every 24 hours, then having a limit on how many times she can use the ability isn't too OP. We'll have to see what Riku thinks, but I'm pretty sure whatever you decide will be fine.
As for the time, don't worry. I'm pretty sure we'll all be getting more busy over the next couple days. XD)

Artemis muttered a curse under his breath as he bumped his head for the tenth time while trying to a vehicle belonging to one of the other clan members. He was starting to get a little frustrated. He could easily see what was wrong with it, but whenever he tried to get to the problem, he seemed to get turned around. It wasn't unexpected. After all, he had only recently gotten interested in mechanics and was still working on getting the hang of things. He figured he'd give it one more try before taking a break, not realizing he was already a half hour late for school.

Xavier sat under a tree in the middle of a park, only a bit down from his home near the rest of the other clan members. He was reading a book as he let out a yawn. Since he had got out of school less than a year ago, he had found himself a little large on time, even with his studies on the Eterna and his training with his abilities...... There was a beeping heard before he closed the book and turned off the alarm on his watch. Speaking of training with his abilities, he was actually planning on going out for training at the time being and maybe help out some of the younger members.

Meanwhile, down in the main part of the city, Azuya was in the home she had, cooking some food. She had a few fragments over at the time being and before taking action, figured it would be good to wait for them to get up. In all honesty, she was in no rush to get this job done. They had quite a bit of time to spare being most, if not all, of the fragments had no age and never grew old.

The door opened up as Akashi came out of the guest bedroom. He let out a yawn before sitting down on the couch. "Hey Fat- I mean Azuya, when are we actually going to make a move on trying to figure this out? Or at least give me the okay to mess with some humans. I just woke up and Im already bored."

Roya glanced at Akashi from where she sat in a chair off to the side. "How impatient," she murmured, before turning her gaze back up to the ceiling. He was far too pushy for her taste. Still... she couldn't help but wonder what Azuya had planned. The specifics had never been revealed to her of exactly what this whole entailed. Then again, she doubted Azyua would be one who would just explain things as soon someone asked. She absently fiddled with the fabric of her skirt as she waited for the other Fragment to wake up. She didn't know much about the others, and found herself watching the door.

She didn't have to wait long before Kotone walked out of the room she had been sleeping in. Her entire appearance looked as if it had been meticulously arranged. There was not a single strand of hair out of place and you'd be hard pressed to find a crinkle in her crisp outfit. Kotone calmly and quietly walked into the room where all of the others were located and took a seat. As one of the four greater fragments, Fate, Emotion, Destruction, and Creation, Kotone always gave off a slight air of something that was either regalness or pretentiousness.Though at the moment she seemed more interested in waiting silently for Azuya to hand her a plate of food.

Akashi put his head on his hand impatiently when Azuya ignored him. It wasnt all too odd due to how he tended to be impatient and whine quite a bit. He sighed. "Im borrrreeeedddddd......"

Azuya turned around with a tray of plates. "Akashi, you need to learn to be patient. We have quite a nice amount of time to spare to make this job as easy as possible."

"I dont really care about easiness......" He murmured to himself under his breath. He wasnt one to speak up and out against someone higher than him.

"Anyways. Hope you enjoy the food. I recently got a good grasp on cooking." Azuya said with a smile. "As for the plan of movement, lets talk this through over breakfast."

Type: Creation

Abilities and Weakness: He has the ability to create things/matter out of thin air. Though large creations take a significant amount of energy to do, that of which something like a house would probably tire him for a few days. Minor and Medium ones he can do a bit more freely, though each still saps out energy.

Bio: Leon was one of the original and greater fragments taking the role of the fragment of Creation and like most of the other ones, he was sent along with Fate and the other major fragments to remove this free will the humans had obtained allowing them to break the universe's order. Oddly though, he vanished shortly after arriving and hadnt been seen by the fragments since. He decided to take this research on his own and the idea that something that was created without him making it so, he found this interesting and something he would like to dig his nose into before siding with A or B. Also, it wasnt like he was going to throw off the opportunity to explore the place he made in first person, afterall, he was the a bit of an adventurous type.

Roya accepted her plate, watching the others. Azuya made a good leader, reminding her of a general or the commander of a fleet. Though, the statement about it being "easy" made her wonder...
"I wonder how long she's been planning this..." Roya said softly. If she'd already planned it all out, then there shouldn't be that much of a wait. Roya moved to the breakfast table from the corner of the room she had placed herself in. Hearing what was happening would be important. She waited for the instructions to begin.

Apparently Kotone did not feel the same way because as soon as she was given her plate, she had started eating it quietly. By the time everyone was assembled at the table, Kotone was halfway finished with her plate. For all intents and purposes, she appeared to not care at all about what Azuya wanted to discuss.

"Alright, so if everyone is settled, we can begin." Azuya said as she ate some of her food. "Okay, for a start, I would like to say there is no rush to get this who hunt for the cause of the free will. We have all the time we need to do this mission. Also, we dont want to make our presence too noticible so the humans would react and whatever was causing this free will to occur to put up and/or protections so we cant go strutting around flashing our names and abilities around." Again she paused to eat some of her food, only to but cut of my Ayashi who spoke up.

"Wow. You couldnt decide to have done anything more boring of a way?" Ayashi sighed as Azuya just glanved over at him with no response. "I just want to skip to the action already. I would much rather just cut though the average humans until we get to the center of this."

"Yeah, but that would be reckless. We dont know what caused the free will but what ever it is, it has the ability to defy us and our abilities. We cant go in over our heads and believe we are the ultimate beings here." Azuya said before looking back at the general group. "Anyways, as I was saying. The first step would be to collect information about this event. We are going to have to remain hidden about it though. After we get enough information on the subject we can take a move carrying from there, though knowledge is power in our case."

They were here to fight the humans, not make friends with them. She looked at the others reactions to Azuya's direction and frowned. Ayashi seemed to be the only one with an issue with this, but he was Ayashi. Roya went back to pushing food around her plate.

While the others spoke, Kotone remained silent, listening calmly to what the others had to say. She glanced over at Ayashi when he voiced his objections, then at Roya when she said that getting close to humans was dangerous. There was a pause in the conversation and Kotone used that pause to place down her fork and stand up.

Kotone: "I'm going out." she said in the same monotonous voice that she always spoke in.

(Whops. I have been says Ayashi havent I? Its Akashi XD)

Akashi was silent like the largest amount of the group as they watched Kotone leave. When the door closed behind her, Akashi spoke up. "Come on! Why can she leave like that?!"

Azuya sighed. "Shes Kotone and Emotion. I cant stop her from doing what she likes. Either way, she knows what shes doing and not reckless like you." Azuya paused and looked over at Roya. "Dont misunderstand. While this free will has taken quite a bit of my deadly power from me, we are none the less superior beings. Its clear we arent here to make friends with the humans though that doesnt mean we cant use them to fish out the information we need. If they really do cause us that much trouble, we can get the information we need and rumble over them, though we dont want to draw too much attention to ourselves regardless so that would be if we absolutely must. I cant say I can determine the strength of these humans and what they will be able to pull out against us if the mass majority knows of our presence."

Roya nodded and went back to staring at her plate. "Better than nothing," she said quietly. She stood and took her plate back into the kitchen before sitting back in the soft chair in the corner of the room. She turned sideways so she could see the table, but only watched the other two blankly. It was tiring to simply wait around. What she really wanted to do was leave as Kotone did, but somehow figured that wouldn't go over well. She wasn't nearly as powerful or as respected as Kotone, and Azuya already had to deal with Akashi. Roya sighed and twirled her hair again. "So tiring," she said under her breath.

As soon as she left the room, Kotone had paused, then glanced back at the door. Now was the first time her face showed any real expression as she heaved an exhausted sigh before rubbing her neck. Dang, putting on the show of "the fragment without emotion" was tiresome. That being said, she couldn't just sit around here complaining about it all day. She had work to do, and with that in mind, she began to walk away from the other fragments.

Azuya looked at Roya and stood up putting her plate away too before sitting down again. She looked over at Akashi who still had his empty plate which wasnt very shocking. "Anyways. Now that I had announced that, we can get to work for the day. Scavange around for information and trying to get something useful on our search." She said before quickly adding on as Akashi grew a bit excited. "That being said, you need to clean up your meal and control your excitement."

Roya stood and bowed her head respectfully before walking from the room. She figured that going to straight up talk to the humans might be a bit too obvious, especially seeing how she really didn't look the part. Figuring that she could at least learn something by listening and reading on what the humans had been doing recently, Roya made her way to the Grand Library, hoping it had what she needed. Settling on a tape from a modern radio talkshow based off the government, she sat down and began to listen, trying to pay as much attention as she could. More than anything, she just wanted to go out and walk around. Sighing, she rested her chin on her palm and continued to listen to the human voice on the radio.

Meanwhile, Artemis was still tinkering away with the truck he was working on and judging by the looks of things, he wasn't going to stop anytime soon. As it was already, he was over an hour late for school.

Akashi sighed and picked up his plate and dropped it off in the sink before heading off, though not out the door, out the window for the sake of it 'being more fun' before he darted off. He figured if he had to find something out, he might go to the main corrupt groups nearby, particularly if there was a mafia nearby, though finding that would be rather hard. Even so, if he did manage to find them, they tend to be large gold mines for information and if his luck played him right, he would be able to have some fun in the meanwhile. Words werent his friends but war and fists sure was.

As soon as everyone had left Azuya stood up and let out a sigh as she herself got up. While she did have the rough plan of what to do she didnt knew where to start for searching. Maybe she should head to the population hotspot. There she could probably get a nice decent amount of information from a the people traveling around here.

(We need to get the events a little better planned. Im honestly not very sure what to do.)

(Do you think that either Akashi or Roya could get suspicious/curious of Kotone and follow her? I figure Azuya wouldn't, simply because of the fact that she has so much to do. As for the plan, they could also set up some kind of recon mission for a high official (human) and either the Eterna Clan or Leon could get wind of it. Just throwing ideas out there.)

(Works for me~ I'll just get that post started so we can build off something. I'm counting on Kotone being a pro at not getting followed ^-^)

Roya had long since tuned out the human radio and was watching out the window, her mind on other things. She took off the headphones, seeing a very familiar figure with white hair. 'What would she be doing outside?' Roya thought, watching the other girl walk away. She stood up and walked quickly out the door, realizing she didn't know that much about her. This could be normal, and she wouldn't even know it. However, Kotone didn't look like a human so she probably wouldn't be doing recon. Roya rounded a corner, finding the doorway and walking quickly outside. Turning down the same way Kotone had gone, Roya picked up her pace not wanting to lose the other fragment. Then again, if she was seen, she'd probably have to explain. 'Curse my appearance,' she thought, realizing that she stood out in a ridiculous fashion against the gray and brown area. Annoyed, she slowed her pace and walked closer to the buildings, slipping into an alley in case Kotone should turn around.

As she walked, Kotone showed no sign that she had noticed Roya following her and instead continued walking to wherever it was that she was going. She appeared to be doing more than simply wandering and had a specific destination, but where it was, that was anyone's guess. Kotone would occasionally reach up and rub her neck a little. Perhaps she was sore.

Just a bit outside of the city lines, Leon was wandering a nearby forests. He had actually been doing this for a few days at the time being. You could say at first, Leon was actually focused on the job they had at hand, but within a single day of being on Earth, his attention was swayed as he grew curious of learning more about the world he created. This was rather interesting to him and the animals were so much more cute when he could actually touch them. He turned his head up as a bird flew over head.

Roya looked around the corner of a building, cocking her head to the side. That was the, what, 5th time? that Kotone had rubbed the back of her neck. She hadn't done so in the meeting, as far as Roya could remember, but Fragments didn't exercise, did they? 'Hmm... she's walking a bit too quickly for this to be a simple stroll,' Roya thought. She picked up her pace as Kotone rounded a corner. If she lost her now, there would be nothing but disappointment and boredom waiting for her. The thought fueled Roya's speed and she broke into a slight jog, pausing to look around the corner of the street.

By the time Roya had turned the corner, Kotone had put quite a bit of distance on her, yet still showed no sign that she was aware of Roya's presence. Kotone rubbed her neck again.

Kotone sighed a little. Man her neck was so stiff. Having to hold that regal pose when around the other fragments was so damned uncomfortable. Yet the other fragments thought of her as some sort of princess-like being so that was the role she had to play, at least when around other fragments. When she was alone, like now, she could relax her shoulders and maybe let a little slump. In other words, she could relax. Kotone came to a halt for a second to look inside a building that had various garments for sale. Kotone was not the type for formal wear, but the dress certainly was pleasing to the eye.
