I'm Going to Change the Attitude of This Town
After school, John talked with his friend, Randall. John said, "Man, I had an interesting dream last night." Randall asked, "What was it?" John said, "John Lennon came to me and told me that I could change the world. I told him that I would start par changing the mentality of this town." Randall looked confused. "What are toi going to do?" He asked. John said, "I'm going to change the attitude of this town. I'm going to montrer them that rock and roll isn't so bad. I'll also promote peace and love." Randall's eyes got big. "Are toi crazy?!" He cried. "You're going to try to change the mentality of Devil's Garden, only to find a guy doesn't like to give messages to a town that doesn't like him!" John said, "As crazy as it sounds, I'm going to do it." Randall said, "John, toi don't know what you're getting into. The town already hates you. Don't give them another reason." John decided to do it, anyway. That night, his family got ready to go to church. "John," his mother called, "are toi ready to go?" John said, "I can't. I have a test to study for." She asked, "When is it?" He said, "Friday." She said, "Oh, okay." She left with his sisters, and John watched them leave from the window. He didn't like to lie, but he knew that he had to get out of church somehow. It was essential to his plan. He grabbed his guitare and drove downtown. He parked right in front of the church. He played on his guitare and sang a song about peace. It was during the sermon. Everyone in the church came out. Pastor Thomas said, "John, you're disrupting my sermon. What do toi have to say for yourself?" John said, "I do feel guilty for lying to my mother, but I otherwise feel no shame." His mother said, "So, toi lied to me! Just wait until I get through with you, mister!" Pastor Thomas said, "I'm talking to John, Mrs. Wilde." He then turned to John and said, "You lied to your mother, and you're playing that devil music. We cannot have this great sin on church grounds, this holy ground." John snorted with derision. Pastor Thomas said, "Don't make that noise. It's disrespectful." John said, "I'm sorry, Pastor Thomas. I just couldn't help but notice the irony of that statement." Pastor Thomas was angry. "IRONY?!" He shouted. John said, "You can't exactly say this place is holy ou without sin. No one here is without sin." Pastor Thomas said, "Everyone but toi is without sin." John said, "That's not correct. Didn't Jésus say he without sin cast the first stone. Who among toi is without sin? The answer is none." Pastor Thomas said, "But your sin is the worst." John said, "I don't think this is a contest, Pastor Thomas." Pastor Thomas said, "You listened to that devil music. Rock musique came from the devil." John asked, "Haven't toi heard of Christian rock?" Pastor Thomas said, "Christian rock is like Santa Claus. It doesn't exist." John said, "You judge rock, because toi don't know it. If toi actually got to know it, toi would see that it isn't so bad." Pastor Thomas said, "Country musique isn't so bad. Rock musique is sinful." John said, "Most country songs are about fighting in a bar. Most rock songs are about world peace." Pastor Thomas said, "There's no such thing as world peace. It's a cliche that went away in the sixties." John said, "You think that, because toi won't give it a chance." Pastor Thomas frowned. "Give peace a chance," he scoffed. "That's like telling black people that they're supposed to serve white people." This angered John, but he didn't lose it. "You just expressed hatred!" He cried. "To me, that's the worst sin anyone can commit. That's far worse than listening to any type of musique that isn't considered Christian." Pastor Thomas shook with rage. He couldn't come up with an argument. He dismissed church. As John got ready to leave, his mother confronted him. "How could toi do that?!" She cried. He said, "I'm sorry, Mother. I did what I had to." She said, "You didn't have to do that." He said, "I'm only trying to change the attitude of Devil's Garden. Their hearts are filled with hate. I only want peace." She said, "There'll be no peace until Jésus comes." John said, "There'll be no peace until we all come together and l’amour one another." His mother said, "Don't argue with me, John." He said, "It seems that toi have been brainwashed par Baptists." She hit him on the side of his face with her purse, causing a black eye. She left with his sisters, leaving John to drive accueil alone. He went to lit early that night, crying from the pain of his black eye. He cried himself to sleep, hoping for a better tomorrow.

"So what happened after toi decided to stop being a hippie?" Jimmy prompted him.
Henry settled back in his chair. "Well, around that time I was beginning to get tired of always being on the road. I loved the adventure in my youth, but I started to miss not having a proper accueil - ou neighbourhood, since I knew par then I wouldn't be getting married. I was just over thirty when I decided to quit being a roadie. My travels had taken me to North Carolina, and I knew I wanted to settle there. I was near the ocean which I loved, and it was near where I grew up but not too near - I knew I wouldn't want...

After a moment of crying together, Henry and the boys dried their tears. Henry said, "Okay, how about something happier now?" The boys nodded "yes". Henry said, "A an had passed. It was 1967, the Summer of Love. Arguably, that's when the hippie scene started." Charles asked, "Were toi a hippie back in the day?" Henry said, "Well, kind of. I dabbled in the scene a bit. I grew my hair long." Les said, "I never thought toi would have long hair." Henry laughed. "I've got a picture to prove it." He took a picture out of his wallet. Sure enough, it was a younger version of Henry with long hair....

The band gathered round to listen closely, drawn in par the faraway, almost dreamy smile that had come over Henry's face.
"It was also in '65, I believe, on a warm summer's day. She was sitting suivant to me in the stands, the prettiest girl toi ever saw. And so excited to see the Beatles, toi could feel it. Her smile made toi want to smile too." Henry paused for a moment as if savouring the memory of all these details. "I wanted to lean over and introduce myself, but toi boys know how loud the Beatles' concerts were. No chance at all of her hearing me. Everyone was cheering as loud as they could...

The boys perked up when they heard that Henry was once a roadie. "We'd l’amour to hear about those days!" they said. Henry said, "Well, after I left home, I made my way to Memphis. I'm sure toi know it was the birthplace of rock and roll. People did have a hard time taking me seriously at first." Charles asked, "Was it because toi looked young for your age?" Henry nodded. "Yeah. I didn't look seventeen. People thought I was plus like fourteen, and they were surprised I was able to drive. They soon learned to take me seriously when they saw how I was able to lift heavy equipment with ease. Just...

"I was born in Tennessee," Henry began. "My father was a miner in the coal mines, and my mother stayed accueil to cook and clean and raise me. toi didn't see a lot of women with jobs in those days," he added, as the band members leaned in closer to listen.
"My childhood was nothing terribly unusual," Henry went on. "I went to school, and I was a good student - not haut, retour au début of the class par any means, but my parents never complained about my grades. I went to church and Sunday school, and in the afternoons and on weekends I would play outside with the other boys in the neighbourhood. My parents were strict,...

Introduction

A Wave Tossed in the Ocean had just released their seconde album, and they were on tour promoting it. It was March. It was a cold winter night, so the members of A Wave Tossed in the Ocean, and their manager, Henry, were staying warm in their hotel room. They were taking turns telling funny stories. Henry laughed and said, "I know I've a dit it before, and I'll say it again: you're like the sons I've never had." Charles, not really thinking...

A few hours later, Una and Everett were comfortably snuggled up together on the couch, sharing the last of Una's chocolates which lay in the open box between them, as the credits rolled on the movie.
"That was so good," murmured Una, her head resting on Everett's shoulder. "You know - I was looking vers l'avant, vers l’avant to your plans, whatever they were going to be, but I was really hoping we'd be able to watch this."
Everett gave a small laugh and shook his head. "I wish I'd known. I could have saved myself all this trouble."
Una grinned. "This year, our Valentine's jour plans were on me," she said. "Next an I expect it to be your turn."
Everett felt a warm rush at the thought of suivant year, that Una was so certain they would be celebrating Valentine's jour together suivant year. But then... of course, Everett though. He wouldn't have considered anything different.
"I l’amour you, Una," he said.
"I l’amour toi too, Everett," she said.

Valentine's jour had finally arrived. Everett still had nothing special for Una. He felt ashamed of himself. A part of him wanted to tell Una that he was sick but lying to her wouldn't solve his problem. He had to tell her the truth. He proceeded to get ready, and he went to Una's house. He a dit to himself, "She's going to be so disappointed. What if she decides to break up with me?" He then said, "It's a risk you'll have to take, Everett. Honesty is the best policy." He then rang the doorbell.

Una had just finished getting ready when she heard the doorbell ring. She said, "I'll get it." She...

“You don't have any tables for that night? Are toi sure?”
“Yes, sir.” The gentleman's voice on the other end of Everett's phone was polite but firm. “Most people book weeks in advance for a populaire time like Valentine's Day.”
Everett sighed, thanked the man anyway, and hung up the phone. His chin dropped into his arms on the table. That was the fifth fancy restaurant he had called, and every one had told him the same thing. No one had any l’espace for him to make a reservation, even really early ou really late.
No special necklace... no fancy dinner... What was he going to do? Una was...

Everett went to the mall the suivant day, trying to figure out what to do for Una for their first Valentine's Day. He then noticed the jewelry store. "That's it!" he a dit to himself. "I'll get Una a beautiful necklace. I know she likes necklaces. She has so many of them. She never wears the same one every day." He then saw a sign advertising a beautiful collier on sale. It was fourteen karat gold, and it had a étoile, star on it. Una was sure to l’amour it! He went to talk to the woman at the front desk. She said, "I'm so sorry. We just sold out." He said, "Oh, that's too bad." She said, "I could special...

Everett flipped the calendar page from January to February one mild winter morning, wondering why something felt plus significant about February than it did every other year. Then his eye wandered down the page to the fourteenth, and he laughed and shook his head. Of course, he reminded himself. Most years, he didn't think too much about Valentine's jour beyond giving his parents a call and wishing them a happy one. But this an was different. This would be the first Valentine's jour that he and Una would spend together.
Everett's heartbeat quickened. He had to do something big for Una - something...

Hi, everyone! Antonia here, and as I type this, today is the last jour of 2021! I can't believe this an is almost over. It has gone par so fast. Where has all the time gone?

The past two years have been challenging for many people for many reasons. Just remember: crap storms suck, but they don't last forever. I don't know what the future holds for any of us, but I do know that it is best to live in the moment and take each jour as it comes.

Hi, everyone! Antonia here, and this is what you've all been waiting for: this year's holiday message. Without further ado, let's get started, shall we?

We are now in the holiday season. I can't believe it's already here. It seems like we should only be halfway through the year, but here we are, heading to the finish line of 2021. This holiday season consists of quite a few firsts for me and my family.

This is Joplin's first Christmas with us. Technically, this is her seconde Christmas, but last Christmas, she was too young to leave her mother. We brought her accueil in January this year. She will...

The doctors did keep Una in the hospital a couple plus days just to make sure she was okay, but to Everett and Una it was already clear she'd recovered. She started feeling impatient to get out and start doing things again, though Everett suggested they maybe not try hiking in the snow anymore, at least not this year. Instead they discussed a trip to the skating rink for later in the winter. Everett stayed with Una in the hospital as much as he was able to, and they entertained themselves with the films Una had brought.
The only thing worrying Una is when she decided she really should call...
