argh i agree! everyone seems to love him, but ive never liked him even after reading the 7th book lol

He's cool,brave and complex.I had a feeling from the very beginning that he's not a bad guy.And when he killed Dumbledore,I knew that I was right.

He is definitely one of the most complex and interesting characters in Harry Potter. I like him! :)

It's difficult for me, but he is the only traitor that I like, and, although I wish he remained true to the Dark Lord, I cannot help but adore his bravery :)

Love or hate him, Snape is one of those characters that would keep you guessing about what kind of guy he was and where his true loyalties were and thats what i absolutely adored his snape and his story :)

I didn't really like him the first few books, but to be hoenst, I really didn't think he wa all that important. But when people started doubting Snape's loyalties, Dumbledore rushed to his defence and said that he trusted him completly. I decided to trust Dumbledore and tried not to hate him too much.

But then, of course, he killed Dumbledore.

And that was it. I hated him.

Untill...

After reading "The Prince's Tale" in the last book, I fell in love with Snape. He's easily the sigle most tragic character out of that whole seris. He did everything he could to save a boy he despised because of his father and loved because of his mother. His last "look - at - me" was just heartbreaking went I went back and read it. I never even considered Snape capable of love, let alone a love like he had for Lily.

Brilliant character. He's the main reason I like the Harry Potter books so much. Finally a hero who's not clean cut, good looking, cute and adorable and with a couple of little flaws thrown in so as not to make him sickly perfect.

I guess it's a kind of sacrilege to say so, but for me, with each book, the series became less and less about Harry's quest to defeat Voldemort and more and more about Snape and his quest for redemption. As much as I love Harry and Hermione and Ron and all the others, their stories never quite moved me as Snape's did. There's so much depth to him, so much love and sacrifice and selflessness that you would never guess from his cold and closed off demeanor. I've never been so involved in a potential villain's story in my life and he has definitely become my favorite fictional character of all time!
