It was called 'Fear the Walking Dead' Stars Had to Take a Swim Test for Season 2 - Hollywood Reporter
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
'Fear the Walking Dead' Stars Had to Take a Swim Test for Season 2
"It was a nightmare," star Kim Dickens tells THR.
is heading out to sea for season two — and with that, the stars of the
's expanded 15-episode sophomore season, the cast had to participate in a swim assessment test.
"There's all kinds of water safety stuff to go through when you're working on the water and none of us knew we'd be doing a swim assessment test with the stunt people," Dickens, who plays female lead Madison on the series, tells
"It was a nightmare! It was freezing in the pool at night and dark and it was an endurance thing."
Season two will see the group of survivors hitting the open water in Victor Strand's (new series regular Colman Domingo) luxurious yacht The Abigail and encountering a string of threats including others who have eyes on their mode of transportation and floating home.
counterpart Madison is a "good swimmer," jokes that the time in the pool served as a bonding experience for the cast. "None of us felt like we did well," she says with a laugh. "Thank god we weren't trying out for the swim team!"
The swim test wasn't much better for co-star Alycia Debnam-Carey (who plays Madison's daughter, Alicia)."We all had to prove we could swim in our first week there," she tells
. "We had to do a training day and it was terrible. It was pitch black, at night, in a freezing pool and it was more to see how well we dealt under pressure but it was horrific! It was not fun; it was so scary. But now that they know we can swim, we hope we don't have to!"
series regular Colman Domingo (who plays the mysterious Victor Strand) tells
that at some point in season two, "all of the characters will have an interaction with the water in some way, shape or form."
While fellow stars Cliff Curtis (Travis), Frank Dillane (Nick) and Mercedes Mason (Ofelia) all say they're solid swimmers, Domingo says viewers will have to wait and see if Strand — the mystery man who brought the family on board his luxurious yacht for seemingly no reason — can carry his own in the water. "You'll find out!"
