He's impulsive when he goes and shoots John (well, he wasn't aiming for John, but you know what I mean), plus he's a lazy (procrastinating) and verrrrrry self-centered.

I can see it fitting more than one. Maleficent seems pretty self centred, it seems fairly easy to get on the wrong side of her temper and incur her wrath, unnecessary risks, I guess things like keeping Philip alive (from an evil perspective I see why she wanted to, but still an unnecessary risk I suppose), and not even trying to incapacitate or kill the fairies to stop them working against her, I think her arrogance makes her take an unnecessary risk there. Procrastination? Well, what was she doing that it took her so long to check that her clearly slow minded minions were looking for the right thing? 16 years of unsuccessful searching before she got around to checking up on her employees and discovering they were looking for the wrong thing.
