Not at all!!! I used to, but I read a tumblr post about why he didn't, and it really made sense. It's much better this way. If I see the post ever again, I'll share it with you guys

Rapunzel was going to go with Mother Gothel if she had healed him and she would have been trapped in another place where nobody could have found her. He cut her hair so she didn't have to be alone again. It was romantic and selfless of him to do something like that.

prussiaducky why can't you just tell us basically what it said? Because so far there's no good reason for why he didn't just do this.

He had to do it when he had the time. Flynn knew Mother Gothel would pull Rapunzel out of reach the moment she healed him, or hold her dagger over Rapunzel's throat so he couldn't pull any trick.

Why would Gothel kill her source that keeps her young? She wouldn't dare do that so really there's no excuse.

@Kataralover You think Gothel would have just stayed there and let herself die? She would have probably grabbed Rapunzel or used her as bait for him to leave. Okay, you're not understanding the situation. Gothel wouldn't have expected that he was going to cut her hair so she'd die by turning to dust so once again there's no excuse.

But even if he did cut her hair,why would Gothel leave her alive? She'd probably try to kill Rapunzel and seeing as Rapunzel herself doesn't want Gothel to die. Well...it makes things complex. She fell out of the tower window. Besides,Rapunzel still had the magic inside her even without her hair.

Because she didn't do anything to kill Rapunzel when she was dying in the movie. I'm sorry but your logic makes zero sense.

KataraLover - I didn't say she would kill Rapunzel, but that she would hold her hostage so Flynn couldn't act. And really, many other things could happen, he had to take his chance.

If she wouldn't kill her what the heck would she do to her? He really had nothing to lose.

^Really, Flynn didn't know Gothel used Rapunzel to make her young forever. Rapunzel never told him that. To him she could be "simply" an insane overprotective parent who would go to any lenghts to "protect" her daughter from the evils of the world, including killing her. And really, the guy was dying, it is not like he was thinking straight.

If he didn't know that she needed her hair then why would he even cut her hair in the first place? He could have been healed and cut her hair anyway! Of course he knew she wanted her hair! Why else would he cut her hair?

^Ok, so he figured out she needed her hair. But think, Katara! In those situations people don't really think straight! Did Ariel stop and think "Hmm... let me read this contract"? No!

Flynn didn't know Gothel needed the hair to live. As far as he was concerned she wouldn't die after the hair was cut and would've killed him anyway out of anger anyway for cutting Rapunzel's hair and like Crazy_Rawr said he was chained.

No,He was thinking more of Rapunzel instead of himself and i know, i think he should had let Rapunzel heal him first but i guess cutting her hair was the first thing that came to his mind so she would be free from Gothel.

Flynn didn't know that Gothel would die the moment he cut Rapunzel's hair. He cut it so that Rapunzel couldn't heal him and to therefore give her her freedom, since she would be of no use to Gothel anymore.

I think somebody just doesn't understand. As soon as Rapunzel healed Flynn, Gothel would have taken Rapunzel away. He had to cut her hair when he had the chance. Besides it shows he's character growth. Before he wouldn't have care about whether Rapunzel was with Gothel or not, but now he does care and wants her to be free.
