I'm not racist or anything but why would they cast a black woman to play Rapunzel? It would've been a better idea to have her play Tiana.

I think they wanted to add some color to the show because people were finding it raciest (Does the Rumpel's shock face). But really have mixed feels about her. I have never seen her act and well she doesn't look like fun loving Rapunzel. She looks like a Tiana

I don't know how it would be considered racist, Regina is a Latina, Mulan is Asian, the magic mirror is black, Lancelot is black, and so on.

^In this world anything could be considered racist. Being a black teenage girl myself I never found anything wrong with there being no black girls in the show but I'm sad that my favorite princesses doesn't look like the way I wanted her to be like in Once Upon A time.

I don't get why, but I don't like the show. Why would they make Mulan bisexual just because she likes fighting? That's extremely stereotypical. I was going to watch the show until my friend told me that.

Jennifer Morrison is funny and playful person and she plays Emma, a serious character. It's called acting! It's their job to be able to act in different varieties. I don't know if you noticed but the girl who plays Aurora and the man playing Snow's Prince look nothing like their animated characters but they're the proper race. I just find it ridiculous they couldn't just get a white girl, I'd be insulted if they casted a white girl to play Jasmine or Tiana so no it's not being racist. What it is, is that we would like someone who is the same race so we can actually feel like out beloved characters have came to life. So none of us are being racist.

I do not watch the show, but I am just going to start it this weekened. She is a great actress, and her face does look similar to Punz's to me, but I have to wait to watch her and then see how I feel about it.

1) She is an actress. If she tries hard enough, she can make anyone come to life. Male, female. 3) Most people do not associate a 2010 CGI princess with Rapunzel, so technically, Rapunzel can be anything.

Last I've seen, Rapunzel is portrayed differently in so many adaptations. She can be anything they want her to be, and Disney doesn't own this show. You are sounding so pathetic and racist, literally bashing this girl just because she got a role.

Anyway, it would be nice if the actress who played Rapunzel looked like her, but I'm not bothered by it because they are not really the Disney Princesses, are they? I mean, I know they use some Disney elements (I stopped watching at season two), but I don't remember their personalities being much like that of their DP counterparts.

If she is a good actress, she will be great for the role. And, really, I don't think she should be cast as Tiana because of her looks. Really, the only thing they have in common is dark hair - not even the skin-shade is the same. Tiana's skin is like chocolate.
