Bring Me the Horizon Call Out Coldplay Over Similar Artwork

Alterna-rockers Coldplay have been teasing the release of a forthcoming album and some posters recently revealed in the U.K. showcase a symbol that may look a little familiar to Bring Me the Horizon fans. The artwork for Coldplay’s

album features a multi-colored group of overlapping circles that mirror a look similar to Bring Me the Horizon’s

The similarities were not lost on Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes, who had a hand in creating the album art for his band’s 2013 release, 

. He posted via his Twitter account a link to a fan posting of one of the Coldplay posters with the comment, “Coldplay jackin our steez hard.” See the tweet below and check out the two artistic pieces in the photo above.

album, the geometric symbol actually pre-dates the Bring Me the Horizon disc by a few thousand years. The image is often referred to as the flower of life. It’s a geometric figure composed of multiple, evenly-spaced, overlapping circles arranged so that they form a flower-like pattern with sixfold symmetry similar to a hexagon.

Over the years, there has been plenty of symbolism attached to the image, with some feeling that the image has religious values depicting the fundamental forms of space and time. The oldest known example of the image was discovered at the Temple of Osiris in Abydos, Egypt and it’s estimated that the figure is over 6,000 years old.
