It doesn't matter whether it's new or old, as long as it has a good storyline.

There will always be anime gems no matter how long the industry survives, and there's usually an amazing one every few years. It's all a matter of preference when it comes to what you enjoy! :)

I picked no because I think it all depends on the anime. I love anime new and old.

It really depends on the anime itself. Whether it is new, or old, if it is a good anime, then it is a good anime. Like, Angel Beats was 2010 and that one of the best anime series I've ever seen. Whereas, older animated styles can also be really good... I can't think of any off the top of my head, but an older animation style that I like is from Hayao Miyazaki's animated movies, like Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle.

Anime is partially about the animation, and newer anime, let's face it, is far better animated for the most part. That's not to say that there's not any old anime with good animation, but there is something to be said about the difference.

Anyway, now that I've talked about this like I'm watching any old cartoon, I simply don't believe there's any major difference in terms of quality (beyond the animation quality). Plenty of old anime manages to be really engaging, but so does the new. Story quality hasn't gotten better necessarily, but it is going in different directions.

Between old and new, I like the animes that came out in the early 2000s like around 2006. I find myself liking the newer animes more, the animation, art styles, etc.

Doesn't matter to me, but when do you count it as old?

@whiteflame I can agree with you there. The animation is definitely of a higher quality with the new technology.

@pumpkin I'd say old is anything prior to around 2000, prior to the higher quality animation style.

@Flame. I don't really care as much about the animation, as I do the storyline and whether it is interesting, or not. I think older animation styles, from what I've seen, can be actually be really well done, at least, in the case of Hayao Miyazaki... Like with his older movies, which range from the late 80's to early 90's and his animation style is really good - it's one of the reasons why I love his movies so much. I do understand where you're coming from, though, a lot of newer anime series have really good animation, too.

@night452. Lol, wut? Make some sense, will you. This is a club to 'debate' various anime topics, not say one tiny, little sentence. I created this club to actually have some interesting debates, not have people just write random little sentences with no reasoning behind it. Please, if you wish to participate on this club, then actually write a decent amount about the topic.

black: I'd ignore him, that is all the type of reply you'll get out of him. I can never tell if he is just bad at grammer, to lazy to type anything else, or some kind of troll.

zanhar: Oh then yeah, definitely like newer anime more. Never cared much for old anime like Sailor Moon.

@Pumpkin has night been trolling around like that lately?

I like more newer anime to but I appricate some of the other stuff. I personally can't hate Sailor Moon it was my first anime (watched it at age 5) so I can't hate it.

@Zeppie. A good answer. Glad to see you here and thanks for taking the time to join. XD

@pumpkinqueen. Indeed, I shall. I see no point in attempting conversation with someone, if they aren't going to even bother replying.

Well, I love a lot of the older anime, since I grew up watching those classics. I like the newer anime more though, because I've watched more of them. But new or not, what matters to me is the story. ~ Sure, the animation helps too, but I watch anime because of the stories it tells. There will always be good and bad anime, no matter what year it is.

While most of the anime I like is newer, I love the classics as well. There's still a lot of anime I haven't watched. I can't judge that one time period of it is better than the other. While the animation has changed a lot and I do like the art style of newer anime more than old, all that matters really is the plot and characters. Whenever I get into a different anime I hardly ever check to see what year it was made.

Meh. I'd just be echoing everyone else if I commented now...aw well.

Old anime is not 'better' in and of itself. Graphics and animation? Definitely superior. Hataraku Maou-sama is the perfect example of modern animation's advances. But good story exists doesn't came and go with time. Frankly, I have yet to see an anime that has forced me to admit that the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya has become inferior. And that say shall never come. NEVER!

I tend to go more towards the quality in animation. So that means for me the newer the anime the better (usually that is)
