Chapter 14
The birds were singing. The trees were swaying. The herbe waved about in unison with the wind. Liam, Griffin and their mates led the group towards the training camp. Kate strided alongside her "Mate" Michael. He pressed his white flank against Kate's. She sighed. Seth caught up to the two along with Destiny. “Do toi know how much longer it will take?” Michael asked. Seth shook his head. “I think about 10 minutes more…” Destiny replied. The group continued onwards. Kate turned back to Seth. He scowled and Kate felt her cœur, coeur sink a bit more. As the herbe swished around Seth’s paws, he felt something well up in his heart, almost making him want to cry. Then, he realised it wasn’t the grass, It was Destiny’s paw on his. She had stopped him because Liam had just called the group to stop. “Thanks…” Seth whispered. Destiny nodded, smiling.
Michael desided to do something he hadn’t done before. He leaned over to Kate. “I l’amour you…” She jumped, in surprise. Michael liked that. He laughed. She smiled and looked down at her paws. “I… l’amour toi too…” Kate a dit reluctantly. Michael then felt the need to yell. “YOU HEAR THAT EVERYONE! SHE a dit SHE LOVED ME! SHE a dit SHE-“ Seth cut him off, calmly, walking par him. “Wow! That’s great! Tell her I’ll dance at her wedding…” Seth a dit sarcastically. Michael scowled. Kate laughed to herself. “We’re here!” Liam announced. There were yowls and barks of excitement coming from the crowd. “Now we must wait.” ‘For what?” Seth barked. Liam looked down upon him. “We are meeting up with the western pack wolves.” Just then, a large group of loups stepped into the clearing. A few of the immediately ran up to Michael, as he was part of their pack. “Now!” Liam started. “We are heading to the training camp now. It is just over this patch of trees.” Liam finished, gesturing to the trees behind him. Then, two beige loups walked over to Liam and Saphire and sat down. Liam nodded in response. Jacob and Lucy. Lucy nudged Jacob. He walked up to the front of the crowd. “Welcome Alpha`s of both packs.” Jacob began. The crowd erupted into howling. When the noise died down, Jacob continued. “So toi will all be attending Alpha school. Am I right?” No one replied. He nodded. “Is there anyone that doesn`t know what to do here?” Seth raised his paw. Jacob looked down on Seth, surprised. “What do toi teach your Alpha`s?” Jacob asked, leaning over to Liam. Liam was stuttering for words, when Kate piped up. “Because he`s a delta.” Kate announced. Jacob looked back on Seth. “But he has the body build of an Alpha!” Jacob explained. “Let’s just say I went through hard times...” Seth answered back. Kate looked down at her paws.
The group reached the clearing. It éperlan of ages of loups training here. All the loups ancestors... Seth smiled. Destiny rushed up to his side. She pressed against his flank. “When do we start?” Seth asked Liam, who was just padding par him. “Now, actually.” He answered. He noticed Destiny at his side. “Tame it down a bit Seth... You’re not an Alpha yet...” Liam joked. Seth thought it about for a moment. “Hey!” Seth exclaimed annoyed. Destiny giggled. Liam gestured for Seth and Destiny to follow. They obliged.
It was about noon. The group had divisé, split up into 3 groups. One was manoeuvring... Another was basic survival, the one that Seth and Destiny were on, was hunting... ou fighting in other words. “Alright everyone. We are going to be practicing basic hunting.” Griffin explained. “Make sure toi are with your partners. Two duo’s will be working together at a time.” Kate walked over to Seth. “I don’t care what toi think, but I need to talk to toi in private!” Kate whispered. Seth rolled his eyes. “If it helps toi sleep at night...” Kate took Seth’s paw and pulled him away from everyone. He sat down. “I... wish to make amends...” Kate started. “For what?” Seth asked. “You know exactly for what...” Kate snapped. Seth didn’t flinch. “You can’t heal a broken heart.” Seth retorted. Kate looked down at her paws. “Seth, that’s the point... toi don’t know how I’m feeling...” “And toi don’t know how I’m feeling.” Seth came back. “Well, can we at least be friends?” “There’s only one thing that will make me forgive you...” “Well if it’s what I think it is, then we’ll never be friends. The only way that could happen is if Michael died and toi became an Alpha...” “I’m not talking about that...” Seth replied, rolling his eyes. “Then... I don’t know... I’m sorry... I-... I didn’t want anything to do with him... I don’t even l’amour him... I want to at least be friends... Please don’t condemn me to death from sorrow...” Kate whimpered, holding back tears. Seth smiled. He felt many feelings. One of which was happy. “Thank you.” Kate looked up. “What?” She asked, confused. Seth responded par hugging her. She wrapped her arms around him. They moved away a few moments later. “Friends?” Kate asked, almost in a whimper. Seth nodded and put his paw on her shoulder comfortingly. “Yes... Friends...” Seth replied back.
From a new found friendship, Seth and Kate found themselves happy since a long while ago. Griffin puffed up his chest and began to speak. “Kate and Michael, Destiny and Seth. Please come forwards.” The four chosen did so. Seth sat down alongside Destiny. Kate sat on Seth’s other side as close as she could get. She turned to him and smiled sweetly. Seth smiled back. Michael scowled at him. Ignoring the exchange of looks between the wolves, Griffin spoke. “You are going to be the first four hunting. And Seth, being a Delta,” Seth hated that word. Delta... It made him feel small and discriminated. “I don’t expect toi to do as much as the Alpha’s.” Yeah... Some friend toi are... Seth thought, bitterly. “However, as your friend, I support you. So I will just say this. Do your best,” Griffin leaned in to Seth’s ear. “And try to impress a few females... You’re at the age of being able to get married so it will do toi good... Also, I believe toi have a chance of being able to be counted as an Alpha...” Griffin chuckled, leaning back. He winked at Seth. Seth immediately forgot any negative feelings towards Griffin. “Now!” Griffin started, standing up abruptly. “You four head down to the gulley.” Griffin gestured to a path that lead down to the gulley. “Carey is waiting for you. She will explain the situation.”
The four started down the path. As soon as they were out of ear shot from Griffin, Kate and Destiny pretty much sandwiched Seth between them. They pressed to his sides. “What did Griffin tell you?” Destiny asked. “Yes! We’d both like to know!” Kate added. “You guys are like sisters...” Seth laughed. Kate looked over at Destiny. She looked pretty friendly... “Well, Griffin first told me that I should try my best...” Destiny listened intently. “For what?” Kate piped up. “He a dit to impress a few females because I’m at the age where I can get married.” Destiny and Kate both giggled. “Also he a dit he believed that I had a chance to become an Alpha...” Seth finished. “Well isn’t that nice?” Destiny replied. “Yes! I hope toi are recognised as an Alpha...” Kate added. Michael began to growl. “Oh pipe down toi grouch... We’re just friends...” Kate laughed, prodding Michael’s ribs. “Yeah... That’s right... Touch my lady and you’re dead. I most humbly beg you,” Michael started, sarcastically. “I most humbly beg toi to eat a moose patty!” Seth cut him off. Kate and Destiny erupted into laughter. Then, a slender white figure appeared at the bottom of the slope. “Oh... Good... par just how much toi were giggling like school girls I was starting to get worried...” Carey. Seth could see why Griffin had interest in her. However it was probably best to keep these thoughts to himself. Griffin probably wouldn’t be happy.
Seth sat down with Kate and Destiny at his sides. Michael followed. Carey sat down a meter in front of them. “Alright... The caribou herd is about 20 minutes away, up that way.” Carey explained, gesturing to her left. “We are going to perform a crimping manoeuvre. For toi Seth, I’ll explain what it is.” Seth took no offence to this because he really didn’t know what it was. “One loup will head to the herd, preferably Destiny, She is the fastest here... She will try to separate a few of the caribou from the herd. She will chase them back here where we will be waiting. Then we attack. Should a stampede arise, well that’s why we’ve found two different emergency routes. Here, Where toi guys got in, and there.” Carey finished, gesturing to a slope on the parallel to the one they were sitting on. “So Seth, toi position over there.” Seth padded over to the other side of the gulley. Kate, toi stay here. Michael, toi over there.” Michael padded over to the slope on the other side. “Now Destiny toi go now and try to bring them here. I will be judging toi guys from the ridge. Go.”
The birds were singing. The trees were swaying. The herbe waved about in unison with the wind. Liam, Griffin and their mates led the group towards the training camp.
