la saga Twilight Question

Forgive my ignorance...

But, what happens if Nessie grows up and is NOT in l’amour with Jacob?

Or...

Do toi only imprint on someone because they are/will be your soulmate -slash- Does imprinting on someone just, mean they'll fall in l’amour with toi back?

Just thinking, it would really suck for Jacob if he went through all the whole Bella-fiasco, then imprinted on Nessie only for her to grow up and see Jacob the same way Bella does.

Although, there is the part in (New Moon?) when Jacob's explained imprinting to Bella, and She' asks has he imprinted on anyone, he simply says "You'd know if I had". So, presumably, toi can, feel when someone imprints on you... But how? Do toi instantly fall in l’amour with them back? Only that's kinda wrong... Cause Nessies like, a jour old...

I'm waffling now, not even sure where all this comes from... Hopefully it makes people think/someone can help.

I just want to say that the idea of imprinting as a whole is strange. So don't feel down if toi don't get it. It can be very very confusing: due to the entire concept and how SMeyer explains and arguably contradicts herself.

Imprinting basically means that a person will be anything to the imprinted. Meaning Jacob will be anything for Renesmee, whether a friend, guardian, lover (please excuse this term seeing as right now, Nessie is a mere child).

"And toi would do anything for her, be anything for her… toi become whatever she needs toi to be, whether that’s a protector, ou a lover, ou a friend, ou a brother."

So, technically no: when one imprints on the other person, that person will not fall in l’amour with them. However, in the books, the example of Claire and Quil. Quil imprinted on Claire. She's 2 years old. And in the present, Claire will see Quil as an older brother ou a guardian ou a really good friend, but as she gets older, Jacob says how can anyone refuse someone who has been with them for that many years.

So technically, yes: the person that is imprinted on has a choice on who they end up with and will love. But Stephenie Meyer conveys that they do not. However, it is up to the reader to interpret this. People interpret imprinting different ways.

I hope this réponses your question. Haha I'm still a little confused when it comes to imprinting. But, I hope I helped a little :)

Aaaaahhhhh... Yeah, that makes a lot plus sense now. Thanks :) it does, however, bring up another question. Why are people so disgusted at the idea of Jacob imprinting on Nessie? Surely, as a baby/small child, a big brother/gardian with such an enormous amount of devotion/dedication can only be a good thing?

Well, it is a dit that that was the reason Jacob was so strongly "in love" with Bella. That "love" was actually for Renesmee. This is why people are confused and why some people are disgusted with imprinting. If that makes sense haha However, most likely, Renesmee will "love" Jacob when she gets older because like stated before, how can anyone refuse someone who has been with them for that many years. So, in a way, it can be interpretted as an obligation. To give that person, the guardian ou protector, plus than just "friendship." But again, it depends on the reader :)

It can't be. And i have no explenation. But it's a perfect l’amour story book and every thing has to go well for the good characters. :) And par the way if Renesme willnot be blind she should see that Jacob is really hot! :)

She doesn't have to l’amour him when she's grown, but I think it's likely. The level of adoration he'd have for her would be attractive. And she'd know that he'd never hurt her, whereas she'd be taking a risk with anyone else.

I think Jake's commentaire there means that if he'd imprinted on anyone else, he'd have donné up on her and she'd have noticed. ou if he'd imprinted on her, he'd have told her. It would have made him fight much harder for her, too.
