I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Could Darryl Actually Be in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’?
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
An Hour of Attention Deficit Disorder with Mc & Mac
In lieu of showing any real footage from the film itself, Marvel and director Taika Waititi released a
, showing what Thor was doing during the events of
, which included him sharing a flat in Australia with a normal civilian, named Darryl. It was in that moment, when the entire world met the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s new power couple.
Fans fell so in love with the short and its witty style of humor as well, that a Change.org petition was even created asking for a full Netflix series focusing on Thor and his new Earth pal. While the possibility of that happening is practically nonexistent though, that doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of Darryl.
Speaking with IGN, Waititi himself teased some other footage featuring Thor’s now iconic Australian flatmate:
“Thor briefly rented a room in a flat in Australia after the Ultron debacle. Just to get some downtime – to get away from The Avengers, to get away from America. So he had a little downtime in Australian. And he met this guy Darryl and they shared a flat together. So that’s Darryl.
“I think you probably could see him again. There may be other little pieces of that thing that everyone saw that may just be a small part of a bigger thing.”
It’s hard to know for sure what Waititi means here, but it seems clear that fans can probably expect to see more of Darryl, and considering the positive reception that the short mockumentary featuring him and Thor received too, that comes as a pleasant surprise. Does this mean he could possibly appear in
even? We won’t know until the film comes out of course, but we can certainly hope, can’t we?
