It all begins when Hunter's son ,Chervil, left in the 1400's when Hunter and him had a disagreement. After that, Huntr did not know where his son left to and was therefore thought dead/M.I.A .(But in reality, Chervil went to Washington, D.C. to create the Dark Kingdom with a few of his friends.)So then, since Hunter had no heir,in the 1600's he mated with the witch Maeve Harman,in order to try and get another heir. It ended up he had all daughters. But due to circumstances, these daughters were much younger than their half-brother Chervil.So, when Garnet(Hunter's oldest daughter) married and had children, they were allowed to pass downthe Redfern last name.(If toi want to know what happened to his other daughters and how he got an "heir", read The Chosen) Thus, creating all the other Refern's later.
As to the prooblem of Hunter being Delos' great-grandfather, I have two theories: One being that,Chervil was probably Lamia which means that he could stop ageing whenever he wanted.But, this does not take away the fact that he could have children, so I think that Chervil must of had Delos' father much later in his life,which could be the reason as to how delos is the same age as Ash. The seconde reason being that instead of Chervil having Tormentil(Delos' father) later, Tormentil had Delos later in his lfe, so which could create the age similarity.
