It totally was. Two great bands together. I guess I can't complain though because I've got tickets to see both, they just won't be together.

Old ones are getting popish and young bands have no idea what they're doing.
Right now, Epica are the best in my opinion. Xandria is also pretty good.
And Therion of course. Even though their last two albums were not that satisfying...

I agree, I'm not really a fan of the sound of most new symphonic metal bands. To me, they're almost.... generic? If that makes sense. WT and NW also indeed have gotten plus radio-friendly over the years, not that I mind sometimes (I actually really liked The Unforgiving, DPP and Imaginaerum), but both of their latest albums aren't that satisfying to me (although I can say I adore EFMB's last two tracks). Despite Symphonic Metal being my favori genre, I'm actually quite picky of what bands I listen to because of this. *sighs* And of course I agree about Therion and Epica!
