I enjoyed Twilight and am considering the Sookie books, are they very gory? as i prefer them not to be, any other recommendations? are they long reads? always preferable to me. Thanks everyone.

I loved the Twilight series, and tried the Sookie Stackhouse livres to keep busy between Twilight movies. I l’amour them! Sookie is a wonderful character, and the combination of fantasy, mystery, romance, and thriller elements make these livres fun to read. I would say that if Twilight is PG-13, the Sookie livres are definitely R, for mature elements (more sex, drugs, and violence than Twilight) and plus graphic descriptions of those elements. That's not to say the livres are all sex and vice, but they're definitely not for all Twilight fans. Certainly not for the younger audience. Just my opinion (30-something Twilight fan and mother of 3).

The livres are alot of fun. They have some graphic "gory" moments but they are well done and not too explicit since they are being told par Sookie and she's usually the one experiencing them. There is some graphic sex throughout the series (and the rape in book3) but not as much as the tv version.
If I were to give the livres movie ratings they would be:

violence- PG13/R
gore- PG13
language- PG13
sex- R
adult themes- R

It's not gory at all. There's plus sexual content though. The livres will remind toi a lot of twilight but they came out about 6 years earlier

The livres are not too glory however there is a lot plus adult scenes and content than Twilight. I loved the Twilight series but the Sookie Stackhouse livres blew them out of the water. I think the livres were the perfect length and once toi read the first one it becomes a journey until toi are finished. I really hope toi read them everyone I know that has read them loved it!
