It seems Ausiello was right - there may be some Legionnaires showing up in the finale as well.
- Spoilery details from an ET Online interview with Cassidy Freeman: "It is very hush-hush," the actress who plays she tells ET. "They only give you your scenes, but they won't tell you what is going on."
- Freeman confirmed to ET that the Justice League will be returning in the finale.
- As for who is dying: "They are not even telling us," she says. "They are holding off as long as they can [letting us know] who is coming back next year. The show is going into season nine. I don't know if Tess Mercer is going into season nine."
- It doesn't seem like Kara will be back after all... Laura Vandervoort is currently busy filming the pilot episode for the new ABC series V.
At least two Justice Leaguers will be returning for this episode, in addition to (of course) Clark and Oliver, who are series regulars.
The new set is said to be replacing the Isis Foundation set.
One of the returning Justice Leaguers is now known: Alaina Huffman is back as the Black Canary.
The newly-built set sounds like it will serve as a Watchtower for the returning Justice League.
The other returning Justice Leaguer has not been seen on the show (aside from a still photo) since "Justice."
- All seven of the actors seen in the opening credits of Smallville will be appearing in this episode.
Though it is said that two characters will die, other characters might end up just leaving...
- One of the Justice Leaguers who is guest starring was last seen in the season premiere episode "Odyssey."
Turns out only one Legionnaire will be showing up - Ryan Kennedy as Rokk Krinn/Cosmic Boy. Still no word yet on which Justice Leaguers will be in the episode.

Executive Producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders have confirmed for E! Online that Tom Welling and Erica Durance are signed on for Season 9, so that must mean that neither Clark nor Lois will be dying. Combine that with Entertainment
Weekly's Ausiello's hint that implied "the person dying is not Chloe," and that should narrow the suspected dead to four other characters - Tess, Jimmy, Oliver, and Davis - unless one or both of the deaths happen to be guest stars.
CLARK AND DOOMSDAY FACE OFF — Oliver (Justin Hartley) tells Clark (Tom Welling) he must kill Davis (Sam Witwer), as Doomsday is a serious threat and must be stopped at all costs. However, Clark struggles with taking a human life, so the Green Arrow and his team decide to take matters into their own hands. Lois (Erica Durance) takes on Tess (Cassidy Freeman), but the fight takes a shocking turn. Meanwhile, Chloe (Allison Mack) gets caught in the middle of Oliver and Clark’s battle over killing Davis. Aaron Ashmore also stars. Posted on KryptonSite. James Marshall directed the episode written by Brian Peterson & Kelly Souders
Erica Durance also said in recent interviews that she will be meeting with the producers soon to discuss her character's role in Season 9. That might be a little hard to do if her character is dead, right?
- E! Online's Natalie Abrams interviewed the show's producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders, and among the spoilers they learned:
- There will be a "big throwdown" between Doomsday and Clark.
- Regarding Chloe's alliance with Davis: "We want the audience to ask the question, Is Chloe doing this because she's starting to fall for Davis, or is Chloe doing this because she's really protecting Clark? I think we walk that line pretty carefully, I hope," Peterson says.
- And on the death: "It's not one of those things where someone just goes down and walks out of it the next minute, unfortunately. There's a lot of doom in Doomsday," Souders teases.
- Chloe's tragic Season 8 arc has a "very tragic ending."
- In an answer to the question of it being Chloe or Davis who dies, the producers confirmed there are two deaths, and it could be one or the other, both, or "someone else" who could be thrown into the mix. There is also a "metaphorical death" in the episode.
- The death may also have to do with the comic book mythology, Kelly Souders says: "All of [what happens] is in order to line up with the DC mythology, we'll throw that out there too. Obviously we created our own version of Doomsday on the show, but ultimately, everything we do in the finale is in order to line up with the DC mythology."
- Some Clois news: "For Clark-Lois fans, I think they will be having many fits in the finale. We just watched part of it cut together, and I have to say there's one of the most quintessential Clark-Lois moments in the finale. It's so good. They have such great chemistry," Souders says.
- Clark's relationship with Oliver will also be tested in the finale.
- As for more Justice League in Season 9, "We started what will hopefully be a new focus of the show that we'll be bringing in allies for Clark next year," Peterson says. "We had a lot of DC villains this year and a lot of DC heroes, and we're hoping to continue that into next year. We teased a little piece of Chloe and her arc and how she might play a role in that next year." Does this mean Chloe lives?
- Clark will have major obstacles to deal with in Season 9. "It may be the darkness before the rise of Superman. He's going to face probably his darkest hour I would say. He really was on a trajectory this year, but he's made some decisions that put him down a different path," Peterson says, and Souders adds that he will be "paying the price for some rather large mistakes from the finale."
Erica Durance revealed today in a radio interview that there is a fight between her and another female character in the season finale.
