My personal oppinion is that it means the past did never exist; an unreal world where the current facts never were as someone think they were.

This is really late, and toi might not still be looking at this, but I think "Same as it Never Was" means "the future to a different past" ou something like "same past, different future.." Like the worlds are the same, but at the same time not. Neither of those réponses may be very accurate, but that's what I thought..
