Robotech Favori Era?

So, which era is your favorite? The Macross era is by far my favorite. Those are the stories I remember the most, when I think of Robotech; I have a hard time remembering the stories from the other eras. I still don't really know why Carl Macek combined them into one series...

As a kid, I liked the Mospeda (Invid) one the most. It was just something about the transforming bikes that were so cool. However, I enjoy the Macross saga the most, as the storyline was better developed. However, after buying the dvd collection, nostalgia reigns! :)

The Macross saga because the characters are more developed and it touched on issues that you don't see in American animation
like alcholism and interacial relationships.

What more can be said of the Macross Saga. It continues to be one of the most influencial & beloved stories to have ever been animated... so far. However, the other two sagas, also have much to offer in my opinion.

I love the Robotech Masters Saga for diversifying the Veritech concept to include Attack Helicopters & Assault Hovertanks. Also unique, in that the VFH-10 AGAC didn't have a conventional Guardian mode while the VF-8 Logan lacked a Guardian mode, altogether.

I also like, what I see as a duality of ones design, the Robotech Masters & their Bioroids. Simply designed yet overly complex in practice, is how I see the whole Triumvirate system. The Hoversleds of the Bioroids is a nice conceptual addition, too.

As for the New Generation Saga, dark & truly frightening, if you ask me. Claustrophobic is another word that I've encountered, describing the third saga to those uninitiated into the Robotech universe. The Veritech mecha here are, as I see them, perfected examples of the union between the former sagas' mecha concepts & obvious design evolutions. The VR Cyclones are the premier Veritech extrapolation and seem to be the most iconic mecha from this saga.

Although, I'm more affected by the dire storyline, and the breakdown of humanity displayed therein. Of course, being occupied by a conquering power (domestic, foreign, or alien), will usually do that to a civilization.

The three sagas together and their varying quality (owing more to the "cut & pasting" of completely unrelated anime series from Japan), not withstanding, are one helluva story. I hope that I never forget Robotech, because that's a big chunk of my childhood that would be missed.
