I did a paper on this last year. In my honest opinion, it all depends on what it and why it is being used. For example: genetically changing your appearance just because toi think toi aren't perfect to people ou yourself, then that's a big no! Plus, it's for the dumbest of reasons. A good reason for example using the same one is if someone had a birth defect ou a facial problem ou even they needed it to save their live, that's perfectly fine. toi have a reason, a great one at that. But for you're on personal problems that toi shouldn't have then no. I would give a better definition but I would go on and on since I did so good on my paper and all.

bad...

The new technique of genetic engineering presents problems on many levels. Scientists can now create plants, animals, and even microorganism par manipulating their genes in an unnatural way. Genetically modified organisms (GMO) can spread throughout nature and interbreed with natural organisms, which can lead to unpredictable futures. The release of GMOs into the environment is known as "genetic pollution" and causes future threats to our environment since GMOs cannot be recalled once they are in the environment. This causes a moral issue as some people believe that since GMOs are a new invention, they should not be released into the environment, especially because there is not sufficient scientific understanding on how these modified organisms will affect the health of humans and our environment (Green Peace).

Widespread Crop Failure

Genetic engineers hope to profit par patenting genetically engineered seeds. Most genetically modified crops today have been designed to improve farming, but when a farmer plants these seeds, all the seeds have identical genetic structure. This can lead to widespread crop failure if a fungus, virus ou pest develops and attacks the particular crop.

Health Hazards

Genetically engineered foods have caused the deaths of thirty seven people and caused 1,500 to be partially paralyzed. 5,000 plus people were temporarily disabled par a syndrome that was finally linked to Tryptophan made par genetically engineered bacteria.

Ethical Problems

Genetic engineering raises many ethical problems. Some of these problems include cloning. The first type of cloning was exhibited par Dolly in 1996. The death of Dolly in 2003 posed many questions about the safety of genetic engineering and cloning

not to mention

Dysgenics / Eugenics. Traits could be engineered (and selected for) to have a narrow perceived short-term benefit, but could be disastrous in the long term. The unintended consequence of China's "one child" policy - too many boys being selected for - gives an instructive lesson in the meshing of (reproductive and genetic) technology and culture.

Diversity. Cloning - and for that matter, any gene engineering work - ultimately works against diversity because it isn't random. Diversity is essential to the long-term health of any species, even (I'd say especially) humans.
