Is it weird that I've known someone for 3 years and we haven't spoken to each other for that whole time even though we see each other every week?

I thought those kinds of people were called peers, ou "classmates".

Not at all. It's completely normal. I have the same situation in my school. There's about twenty people that I've known since grade school and haven't talk to at all. See them almost every jour in school and I've never talked to them and never plan to, to some of them. Hope that makes sense...:)
