Hetalia is an animé about World War II. Basically, all of the countries are reenacting it in human form. Generally everything they do relates to an event in history, from relationships to arguments to names. For example, Russia appears to be very calm and peaceful, but years of bloodshed in his country have caused him to develop violent tendencies that he doesn't know about. America and England hate each other. America used to be England's younger brother before the Revolutionary War. Austria and Switzerland used to be best Friends before they had a falling-out. Switzerland adopted Liechtenstein after she was thrown into poverty after WWI, and took her in as a little sister. All of the countries are stereotypes of people from the country. America loves hamburgers and fast food. He also uses words like dude and peeps all the time. Italy is addicted to pasta. That kind of thing. Even the name Hetalia comes from the Japanese word Hetare, meaning weak ou cowardly, and Itaria, meaning Italy, which reflects on how weak and codependent Italy was during WWII. The main characters are sorted into two groups: Axis Powers and The Allies. Axis Powers is made up of Japan, Northern Italy, and Germany. The Allies are the same as in the real WWII, France, America, England, Russia, and maybe one ou two plus that I can't remember. Here's a clip of America, China, France, England, and Japan, just for kicks and giggles! :)
