Why do toi all care so much about props?

Honestly, they mean nothing. Why would toi "bribe" users to answer your questions par giving them props? They're useless, so why get so worked up when answering a question in order to get props?

hommages are cool, I like to give them but I don't fuss much about getting them.
I like to see that somebody likes my icone and co. but I don't think hommages are really as "important" as people think.
