With 15 Shows Left, One Direction\'s Where We Are Tour Is 20th Highest Grossing of All-Time

With 15 U.S. dates remaining, One Direction’s Where We Are World Tour has become one of the highest-grossing tours of all time. The Brit pop quintet has grossed over $230 million since hitting the road in South America in April and One Direction tickets will continue to sell out at large-capacity sporting arenas across the country through early October. The group’s monumental tour has also garnered an incredible amount of success for opening act 5 Seconds of Summer, and has led the pop rock band to announce the massive 2015 Rock Out With Your Socks Out World Tour, which has already drawn monetary comparisons to One Direction’s last year’s ‘Take Me Home Tour’.

According to TiqIQ, the secondary market average for One Direction’s final 15 shows of the tour is $205.05, all of which include 5 Seconds of Summer as the opening performer. Stops at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles, the BOK Center in Tulsa and Raymond James Stadium in Tampa serve as the highest-priced shows on the remainder of Where We Are, while the group’s next show at Soldier Field in Chicago and a late-September stop at the Superdome in New Orleans are the band’s cheapest shows on the secondary ticket market.

One Direction will have their most expensive upcoming date at the Rose Bowl on September 13. The average secondary market price for that date is currently $411.15, more than double the price of the tour average, with a get-in of $58. The pop group’s second most expensive show will be 10 days later in Tulsa when they play the BOK Center, which has a current average price of $346.79, 69.1% above the tour average, with a get-in price of $100. Preceding the September 13 date will be another Rose Bowl show on September 11, which serves as the third highest-priced remaining show on the tour at an average price of $241.68, marking a 17.8% jump above the tour average. However, the get-in price for the first Rose Bowl show starts at just $17.

On the other side of the financial spectrum are the group’s least expensive shows, which will be played at Soldier Field in Chicago and the Superdome in New Orleans. One Direction will head to Soldier Field Friday night and the show currently has an average price of $149.20 on the secondary market, 27.3% below the tour average, with a get-in price of $47. The cheapest date of the tour will be at the Superdome on September 25, however, as the average secondary price for the show is $123.81, 39.6% below the tour average, with a get-in price of $13.

Arguably the most widely recognizable pop groups in the world right now, both One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer have found themselves among considerable company within the top-grossing tours of all time. With its last stop at the Edward Jones Dome Wednesday night, the Where We Are Tour has surpassed Jay-Z and Beyonce’s recently concluded On the Run Tour as the 20th highest-grossing tour of all time and is on pace to exceed Bruce Springsteen’s Magic Tour, which was held from 2007-2008. As both bands remain two of the biggest names in pop music, they will undoubtedly continue to see financial success both in the box office and on the secondary ticket market.
