I have so many suggestions...:D But toi might have already read the plus famous ones like Death Note (I l’amour that one), Bleach etc so here's some of my favourite lesser-known ones;

Yotsuba@! (pictured) -the first authentic manga I ever read and still my joint favourite (with Azumanga Daioh), about the everyday life of a little girl and her funny encounters with otherwise mundane experiences. Has not had an anime, but was recently in the haut, retour au début 5 bestselling shounen mangas with the latest chapters released recently.

Azumanga Daioh-by the same auteur as Yotsuba@!, but is slightly plus 'grown-up' in some ways, about the everyday lives of a group of misfit schoolgirls, all with very different personalities. It was made into an anime, which is also good.

Hirameki Hatsume-Chan- another slice-of-life comedy, this very little-known manga has a quirky, 'random' feel to it. It centres around the everyday life of a little girl who is a genius at making things, and makes a special box which, when screws are inserted into it, does a variety of odd yet incredible things. Sadly because it is not that well known and not many chapters have been published, it is hard to get hold of, meaning that most Western readers will find it hard to read other than in free manga sites such as mangareader.net.

A Thousand Years Ninetails-actually, I haven't read all of this, but what I have read so far is good. A little different from the standard manga, this manga is in fact from a Korean mangaka rather than a Japanese one, and is in colour.

Hope this helps!

I didn't know that Kuroshitsuji was set in the Victorian era. I might try that myself.

I like the genres: Action, Part romance, Music, Historical, Adventure, comedy, school life, Shojo, Drama, Mecha, Sci-fi, Fantasy, Mystery, Horror, Slice-of-Life, Parody, Ecchi. My favourite animé the most is Bleach action genre. I like many genres but not a full romance fan myself. I pefer action and the rest I listed besides romance. Lucky étoile, star opening is good but first I did not like it but it is strange and addicting.
