I remember visiting this website once...
It was called The an in Social and Streaming Charts: Katy Perry and Justin Bieber Rule | Billboard
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Streaming and on-demand services continued to play a significant role in determining a song’s popularity on the Billboard Hot 100 and other charts in 2014. This year’s recaps are our first year-end tallies to include a full charting year of YouTube and Vevo on YouTube plays, and many of the top titles’ popularity is derived from their popular music videos.
Katy Perry’s smash hit “Dark Horse,” featuring Juicy J, finishes at No. 1 on the year-end Streaming Songs chart. The track’s flaming-hot-Cheetos-filled music video helped it spent eight cumulative weeks at No. 1 on the weekly Streaming Songs chart in 2014.
“Dark Horse” edges out “Fancy” by Iggy Azalea featuring Charli XCX, which comes in at No. 2. It too benefits from its popular official
-inspired music video, which helps “Fancy” tie the record for the longest running No. 1 on Streaming songs (13 weeks), matching the mark set by Miley Cyrus\' “Wrecking Ball” in January 2014.
Of all of the songs to reach No. 1 on the weekly Streaming Songs chart in 2014, “Happy” by Pharrell Williams is the only one with a male as the lead artist. After the November 2013 debut of its innovative “24 Hours of Happy” music video concept, “Happy” became a worldwide viral phenomenon where thousands on YouTube users re-created the video’s dance in their own style, culminating in Williams’ emotional breakdown on Oprah Prime on April 13. Soon after, the track spent four weeks in the No. 1 position on the weekly Streaming Songs chart.
Two songs that debuted the same week -- Idina Menzel’s “Let It Go” and John Legend’s “All Of Me” -- finish strong on the year-end Streaming Songs tally. Both cuts bowed on the Jan. 25-dated chart. “All Of Me” ranks at No. 4, while “Let It Go,” from Frozen, follows just behind at No. 5
“All Of Me’s” popularity through the year was sustained by its appeal among years of all the major contributing streaming services. It was named the most-streamed song on Spotify for the year in a report released by the service, and comes in at No. 1 on the year-end On-Demand Songs chart Spotify is a major contributor. “Let It Go,” on the other hand, proved more popular on YouTube where users could listen to the track along with its clip from the movie.
Social Rules: In addition to continuing to power the Social 50 chart, social data provided by Next Big Sound also helps power the new Billboard Artist 100 chart. 2014 also saw the launch of the Billboard + Twitter real time charts, which provide an up-to-the-minute ranking of the most-shared songs on Twitter.
On the year-end Social 50 tally, Justin Bieber is No. 1 for the second straight year, while also reaching an impressive milestone. He has spent more than 100 cumulative weeks atop the weekly Social 50 chart. He triumphs over a female-filled top five with Miley Cyrus (No. 2), Ariana Grande (No. 3), Katy Perry (No. 4) and Shakira (No. 5). The weekly Social 50 chart ranks the most popular artists on YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter, SoundCloud, Wikipedia, Myspace and Instagram. The chart\'s methodology blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with artist page views, song plays and reactions as measured by music analytics company Next Big Sound.
"Amnesia" Tops Twitter Recap: On the year-end Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks chart (which saw its weekly chart bow in June), 5 Seconds of Summer crowns the list with “Amnesia.” The weekly Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks list tallies the most shared and/or mentioned songs on Twitter. “Amnesia” spent more time at No. 1 on the weekly chart than any other track, ruling for four weeks.
