Why I can't add vidéos to iTunes bibliothèque to mettre en ligne them to my iPod?

MP4 is a media container format which can be encoded with many different video and audio codecs like DivX, Xvid, H.264, H.263, MPEG-4, AC3, WMA, AAC, etc. While iTunes only support few video and audio codec like MPEG-4 video codec and AAC audio codec; H.264 video codec and AAC audio codec. If the MP4 video is encode with iTunes unsupported video ou audio codec, iTunes will not add and play it.

Sometimes, even if the MP4 is in the right video and audio codec that iTunes supports and we can successfully add and play MP4 in iTunes, but if the MP4 video does meet the technical specifications for iOS devices like video size, bitrates, sample rate and etc, we will fail to sync and transfer the MP4 video from iTunes to iPod, iPad, iPhone, pomme TV and etc.

it applies to importing all kinds of vidéos to itunes including avi, wmv, flv, mkv, mpg and more

toi have to enable video syncing. click on your ipod in itunes then there should be videos. click on that and their should be a checkbox saying "Sync vidéos To (name of your ipod)'s iPod ".
i know this because first i was an ipod nano user now im an ipod touch user. if still not able to add vidéos then yes it is most likely toi have to download a converter

First you'll need a good converter. I use Any Video Converter here's a link: link
This one is free, and does require mises à jour but it works really well. Then you'll need to convert the files to MP4 with the converter, to do this click "Add Videos" then select "Video" under output type, and select mp4. suivant toi will go into your computer's "Music" folder and select iTunes, then under iTunes select " iTunes Media" under that select "automatically add to iTunes" copy and paste the converted files there and they will automatically be placed into your iTunes "movies" section. its nothing , not with mp4 , converter, etc etc, but just instal quicktime player in ur pc

I prefer using a dedicated tool for this purpose. For instance, VideoDrive for Mac analyses your videos, converts them if necessary, adds metadata par searching for descriptions and artwork online, and puts them in iTunes. No fuss. I have a lot of vidéos and cannot be bothered with doing all these steps myself. I found a screencast online for it, but it seems a bit outdated.

toi actually have to download a converter. But they're all crappy unless toi buy one, which is expensive. In my opinion, it's a very smart déplacer from Apple. Forces people to buy films if they want them on their iPod. I'll let toi know if my conversion works! :)

Do a right click on the video and there should be a "create an iPod ou iPhone version" and it should start converting it. I can't grantee it but that's worked for me so far.

iPod plays vidéos of certain format only.. U just need a real nice converter.. I use iTransPod which is very easy to use.. its an iTunes plugin.. its as easy as adding a file to iTunes..Click on it select a file. it will convert and add it to iTunes.. toi jus have say which file u want..

sorry this isnt an answer but i have the same problem

like pretty much everyone said, it has to be a certain type.. i believe it has to be an MPEG4.. toi can go to www.keepvid.com and save them onto ur computer too. if toi do then toi need to download the 2nd link that it shows. just go to Youtube and see if they have the video on there and just copy the url (i learned that the hard way so thought i'd mention that lol) and paste it into a chercher bar thats on the site. pretty easy and toi can do as many as u want :]

No one understood the problem. We know we need to convert the file and we did it.
I converted 8 episodes and everything went just fine, iTunes added them in the bibliothèque but when I got to episodes 9, it got converted but I get the message (with Videora) that it can not be added to iTunes library. Even if trying to add it manually, nothing happens. I used the same method for all episodes so obviously, it's not the way I do it that is wrong.

well firstly download Youtube downloader then use it to download your vidéos and after download toi can convert them righaway to any format like iphone..then add them to your itunes library..sync them all.. its fixed.

well for starters toi have to make sure that toi have the syncing films button checked b/c if toi dont toi cant really sync movies!!!!AND HOW TO DO THAT is simple do to the place where it says " " ipod and click on "movies"on the haut, retour au début of the window and then it says Sync films check that off and there your films are ready to sync

the thing is iTunes is retarded. every once in a while it'll just decide to tell toi to go f*&k yourself. what i recommend is checking out copy trans. i recommend getting the paid version if toi already have vids, when your ipod syncs again it might erase whatever toi added thru copy trans

Have toi gotten an answer to this yet? I have the same problem, it sounds like everyone else (except Narmzi) is missing the point - récent vidéos I'm trying to add are the same as the old ones but they won't upload, it has nothing to do with converting them. What's changed about iTunes?!?

Itunes sux!! theres an alternative free program called CopyTrans Control, its a free download, Google it then download it, its just like itunes but better! toi can add music, videos, but first toi need to convert your video files to MP4, and theres a free program called www.convertavitomp4.com, its a free program as well, once its downloaded, open it up and convert any movie file format such as avi. mkv, divx ect, and this tool does it for toi and converts your video files to MP4, then toi can drag n drop your MP4 movie file in Copy Trans manager( I forgot to mention when toi download CopyTrans Control, open it and select CopyTrans Manager, it detects what ever iDevice toi have connected, and it supports all aples products) then once toi convert your video files toi just drag n drop anywhere in CopyTrans Manager, same goes with adding music, toi just drag n drop, but after adding each file, weather its musique ou a video, click the update button at the haut, retour au début right, its in bold writing, 'Update" This free program kicks iTunes cul, ass in everyway, dont forget to convert your video files with the program mentioned to MP4 and voila, there on your ipod, ipod touch, iphone, ipad!!!!

I had that same problem the other jour and it was driving me nuts! I found that my pc actually had a video to ipod converter. toi can get it from link where they have a free download to convert your vidéos to the ipod. Just make sure when toi have downloaded it and are getting ready to convert, that toi select the right ipod type to convert it to!

I had the same problem a few days ago. All I had to do was to install quicktime and that solved the problem for me.

Your question is somewhat confusing which is why so many are answering with the standard video conversion answer, but if toi are suggesting that even though you're adding valid iTunes files to your bibliothèque and iTunes is not accepting the files, toi need to have Quicktime installed and running. If for some reason you've shut down ou uninstalled Quicktime, toi won't be able to add files to your bibliothèque which you've always been able to add.

I had this problem just now.

Even though my file was in the right format .mp4, i got the exact same error. So you'll need to convert it the into the mp4 format that iTunes accepts....

So I went to download.cnet.com
downloaded Xilisoft (free and will convert the first 3mins only)
connect your iPad to your computer
make sure the profil is "iPad - H.264 Video(1)"
go to the pic that looks like a mobile phone and click on the Arrow near it - choose "output to iPad"
make sure iTunes is closed
then after you've dragged the file in the window, right click on the green dot on the RHS in the status column and choose "Convert Selected Item(s)"

and voila :)

The reason of iTunes won't import MP4, no mater par dragging and dropping ou par selecting Add File to Libray... from iTunes menu, is iTunes supports most of MP4 and MOV files, but not All. iTunes use the same technology as QuickTime to play media files, it has the same limitation on media file formats. Use AVS Video converter. In AVS video converter select to convert to MP4. Worked fine. AVS will also make the file smaller most times.

I have just spent plus than an heure converting and reconverting files to mp4 and they still wouldn't load into iTunes despite being identical in every way to how I load files all the time. In desperation I quit and restarted iTunes (just iTunes not the mac) and lo and behold they load instantly! Go figger!!

iTunes only supports to play QuickTime video and MPEG-4 video with the file extension of .m4v, .mp4 and .mov.
