Pretty obvious that she doesn't know anything about what the average person goes through everyday. I mean she didn't even know that you've got to pay for food.

She doesn't want to run anything except her darn restaurant. She's definitely narrow-minded, and I'll never see her MANAGING a kingdom with the same enthusiasm as her business. She'll probably let the inhabitants go hang.

Snow White is a sweet girl, but she doesn't have much common sense. She'd give away all the governments money to the poor and if a country was declaring war she'd try to send them cookies instead of taking action.

Emmalou13: How is Aurora wimpy and irresponsible? Sure, she's not developed as a character at all but she's willing to give up her dreams in order to accept the responsibility of being a princess. Iwasneverthere: I think Tiana has grown at the end of her movie, she's no longer so adamant about owning a business since she's achieved that dream and knows the power of love and friendship. If she was willing to instill a good work ethic into Naveen then I bet she would work to be a good queen. And let the citizens hang, really? Why would she do that? She grew up in 1920s New Orleans, she's experienced racism and oppression, there is no way she would let somebody "hang."

Any way, long comment. Snow White is sweet but naive, and there doesn't seem to be anyone around to help her govern.

iwasneverhere picked Tiana:
@Diogenes: "Letting the inhabitants go hang" is a figure of speech. It means to let the inhabitants go suffer the consequences of their own actions. It's not literal. Tiana does not care about other people, much. And I honestly don't see Tiana change all that much during her movie. She finally wakes up after Mama Odie bops her over the head with her don't-be-such-a-workaholic message --- but in the end, Tiana gets her restaurant, even though she was sort of mean to both Naveen and to Ray when she thought her dream was out of her reach. I don't find her very appealing, and now that she's got what she wanted out of life--- I feel she is even less inclined to be concerned about other people. ( Tiana actually hesitated about saving Naveen's life, which was something I found rather disturbing about her. Naveen saved her life quite a bit, and Tiana HESITATES to save his? I don't think she's got the chops for ruling over anyone. She's lacking empathy).

Iwasneverhere: I understand it's a figure of speech but it's still a problematic one. Any way, I'd have to see the film again, but I don't think she lacks empathy. When Dr. Facilier tries to tempt her by turning her back into a human in exchange for her restaurant, she rejects him because she remembered her father didn't accomplish his goal but he still had a loving family which is all that mattered. So Tiana does get what she wants but she had to learn that family comes first. So her character does develop and even if she reverts to her old ways she still has her family and friends to guide her.

iwasneverhere picked Tiana:
@Diogenes: I don't like people who revert back to being the--- unsavory sort they were at the beginning. I think, that after Tiana has her restaurant, she will be content to make the assumption that all her hard work got her there--- when in fact, LOTS of people she DUMPED ON--- actually helped her achieve her dream. I don't think Elsa would make a good queen, because when Elsa faces the next problem in her life--- she will try to avoid it at all costs ( just as she did when she couldn't handle her own powers).

I EVENTUALLY liked Merida, because after she faced her problem of "wanting her own way" she DID NOT REVERT back to being the nasty, bratty, insensitive girl she was before. Mulan similarly goes from being untrained and clumsy to being accomplished and smart---- and DOESN'T REVERT BACK. From what was presented in TPATF, I do not feel like Tiana has the presence of mind to make lasting changes in her personality. She's too dependent on other people to remind her of what is the right thing to do.

Iwasneverhere: I can't think of a single example where Tiana dumps on someone and isn't appreciative. Her character does develop, she even tells Naveen that her dream wouldn't be complete without him in it. Plus, she never accepted any outside money for the restaurant, that was from all of her hard work. Plus, she and Naveen renovate the building themselves! She had the option of getting her dream through magic but chose not to. I don't think she's dependent on other people, part of her development was to accept help from others instead of doing everything herself. If that's not development then I don't know what is. Aside from that, I agree on your points for the other characters.

iwasneverhere picked Tiana:
@Diogenes: Well, I agree to disagree with you on Tiana. ( No worries, lots of other people disagree with me on how she treats Naveen and Ray). I just feel like she has so much of the "I can only depend on myself" mentality, that she seems off-putting to me. I do feel she holds back on displaying empathy, and that makes me not like her. You need empathy to rule well, and picture yourself in the shoes of someone else. Tiana does not do that on a regular basis.

To each his own, though. ;)

All right then, we can leave it at that. By the way, thank you for spelling my username correctly, I can't change it unless I create a new account which I'd rather not do. :)

After all Aladdin was going to be the next Sultan. Sexist, right? Even if that wasn't going to happen she still gets angry easily and is spoiled. I don't think she's made a good Queen.
