^I agree totally. Big whoop that you didn't get an invite to a party; that doesn't mean you can just go around cursing infants.

Swanpride picked Shadow Man-For money and to pay off his debts with his 'friends':
I object! It's not about a party invite for Maleficient, she is simply evil and enjoys barging in and ruining everything for everyone else when they are at their happiest.
With Facilier, I never really got his motivations. Well, I get the money part, but I never understood how being rich translates into bringing souls to his friends from the other side.(Which is the reason why he is so low on my fav list, despite having a great design).

She is just evil- she just needed a small excuse to do it.

^ Agreed. Personally, I couldn't even see it as some exagerrated dark comedy element because of how weak and almost non-existent the explanation of all the Facilier's actions related to dark arts were. While with Maleficent at least she was just evil, a witch and her pride was damaged by her not being invited to the party, with Facilier literally every single thing he did seemed either unconvincing or random and him cursing Naveen was out of random as well.

Straggy picked Tremaine-To keep Cendrillon unhappy and her daughters pampered:
I actually think Maleficent's motive is really cool. If you think about it, what exactly is that saying about the character? Here we have a woman that's obviously draped in power, lives in a large castle of her own, and has a small army of ugly little minions. But she gets pissed to the extent of plotting elaborate murders over not getting invited to a party. She can snap and twist and hold grudges at the snap of a finger. She finds any excuse to be mean and to manipulate and to drive her evil magic into everything. Really, it's not about the party at all. It's about being a class A bitch and I feel the motive is without doubt the strongest aspect of her character. It proves how evil and vile she really is.

Popcornfan picked Ratcliffe-For ou and land ownership:
Ratcliffe's motive is so prosaic, Maleficent's darker. It's absurd in a way, but for that much more interesting and stronger.
