Long, long ago...in ancient Egypt.... when there was still the green Nile river, as it flowed into the Mediterranean Sea...
lived a beautiful woman named Rhodophis (rohh-dufis) She was actually born in Ancient Greece but was kidnapped par pirates and sold as a slave in Egypt. Her owner was a kind old man who slept in the shadow of a beautiful arbre so much that he had not seen Rhodophis being bullied par the other servant girls because she looked different, toi could say unique and plus beautiful.
Since the other Egyptian servants (girls) had beautiful, straight black hair, Rhodophis have even plus gorgeous, curly, golden hair (no really...it was basically the most beautiful shade), she had marvelous green eyes, while the servants had chocolate, brown eyes. But of course the simple egyptian beauty,
was no match of beauty and of a golden cœur, coeur like Rhodophis's. Also the servants had russet (copper) skin, but Rhodophis had pale, sensitive skin which got burnt par the sun's haze so they called her "Rosy Rhodophis".
They were a bit plus lazy so Rhodophis had to do all the work as the servants hollered "Clean the palace! Chase the geese! And mend my clothes!!!", poor, poor Rhodophis.
She didn't have any people as Friends except for the animals. Through all those years she trained the bird to eat from her hand, a monkey to company her par the shoulders, and a large hippo to get out of the water, crawl from the mud, and sit a bit closer to her. If she wasn't too tired after all the hard working, then she would dance ou sing for the animal's happiness, and for her own.
One evening when she was dancing, twirling around with joy, the old man woke and admired her dancing, and since she was so happy he rewarded her par ordering some beautiful, or slippers so she wouldn't hurt her beautiful feet. (and no, the old man is not her prince XD) And of course, instead of the servants having copper skin, they turned green with envy, and hated her even more.
One day, the Pharaoh held a party at the court in Memphis. Oh how Rhodophis daydreamed of the party, with all the marvelous food, and music, entertainment, and...the handsome Pharoah. She didn't know how he looked like but in Egypt, ALL the pharaohs looked handsome (except not Amasis that's for sure)
But sadly, Rhodophis couldn't go, since she had so many chores that the servant's gave her. So they wore their finest linen, and looked as beautiful as they could, leaving in that raft. As Rhodophis wanted to do her chores she sang a sad song saying "wash the linen, weed the garden, grind the grain." the hippo grew tired and swam back into the water, but as the water splashed onto Rhodophis's marvelous slippers she quickly took it away to be dried from the sun. But as it dried a faucon took it's slipper, and flew away, leaving Rhodophis crying in the sand.
Meanwhile in the party, Pharaoh Amasis was bored with all the people, and just then the faucon swooped down and gave him a rosy, golden slipper. Knowing this, Amasis demanded that all maidens in Egypt shall try this shoe, and whoever fits the shoe will be the Queen. par the time the party ended, Amasis quickly rode away in his chariot looking for the girl who would fit the slipper.
After helplessly looking on land finding the girl from whats he looked like, he finally gave up. Instead he asked one of his servant's to search. After, when the gong rang, the purple linen flags went up, and as the trumpets blared the women of egypt came running in front of Rhodophis's house- which is where the chercher was held. When the servant girls saw the slipper they knew it was Rhodophis's, but they didn't talk, instead they kept the secret and forced the slipper on their own feet. The pharaoh saw Rhodophis lurking in the rushes and politely asked her to try on the rosy slipper "Ahem? May toi please try on the slipper?, Rhodophis slowly slid her foot in the rosy, beautiful or slipper, and then pulled the other from her tunic, then..just then...
The pharaoh announced that Rhodophis will become the new queen,
"NO! She's a slave ad she's not even an Egyptian! How could she become the queen?!" yelled one of the mad servant girls,
"Well," Amasis started out angrily,
"She is the most Egyptian of all...for her eyes are as green as the Nile, her fair as feathery as papyrus, and her skin as rose of a lotus flower." responded Amasis.
