Disney films make me feel so happy inside and even though sometimes they make me tear up I can't get enough. So I'm ranking the DP movies, this time I'll being analyzing different aspects of the films. So forgive me if my écriture reads kinda patchy. This will probably be my hardest countdown to do because really l’amour ALL of their movies. Well let's just get over with and remember I l’amour them all.
10. Tangled
Plot- I actually like this story better than the original fairytale. It's a simple yet engaging plot that holds my attention. It has adventure, pretty awesome action scenes and a really cheesy ending. The story is amazing and is probably the only positive thing I can say about this movie.
Characters- Obviously, Maximus is the best character, he's funny and a badass. Rapunzel is just okay, I can't say anything bad about her, I just don't like her that much. Flynn is at least likable. Pascal is very underrated, I like him. Gothel is great too, I kinda sympathize with her. Oddly enough, I really like Rapunzel's real parents.
Animation- Of course this film gets points for animation, it's CGI. I do admit the constant use of computer animation is getting annoying. But it's still pretty amazing to watch.
Music- The songs are awful! Whenever I watch this movie I feel like I'm listening to a Taylor rapide, swift album and her musique annoys me! When Will My Life Begin is the only good song and I guess I like Mother Gothel's song. The rest of them are just terrible, the migranes these songs give me are just unbearable.
Final Thoughts- It's hard for me to pin point why I sometimes flat out dislike this movie. I can't connect with it like the other films. Maybe it's the nostalgia factor ou maybe it's because the word annoying always comes out of my mouth when I talk about Tangled. The plot is great but everyting else just falls flat for me. I don't hate it but I don't really l’amour it either and I think it's overrated.
9. Pocahontas
Plot- This movie is the perfect example of a film where everything works except for the actual story. The movie's kinda boring for the most part. It was kinda fun in the beginning but everything started to go downhill right about after Color of the Wind. Nothing fun happens, it's just Poca and John running back and forth.
Characters- I like Meeko, oh yeah, I a dit it. He's easily the most exciting character in the film, par a distance. I l’amour Pocahontas but she kinda goes downhill along with the movie, as does John. Cheif Powhatan is a great Disney father. Thomas, Nakoma and Percy are fine. Radcliffe is the most dumbass Disney Villian in history. Everyone else isn't worth talking about.
Animation- The artwork is beautiful, wonderful scenery with spectacular colours and different looking characters and par different I mean realistic. The entire movie looks a painting coming to life, it's pretty amazing to watch.
Music- This movie beautiful to look at and to listen to. In my opinion Pochontas has the best soundtrack of all the Disney movies. couleurs of the Wind is definitely one of my favori songs. Not just Disney songs but songs period. There is not one song I dislike in this film. sûr, sans danger to say, the musique is the best thing about it.
Final Thoughts- animation and musique aside if the plot doesn't work there's really no point. It's just boring and the historical inaccuracies are kind of jarring. I'm fine with rewriting history, I really don't care as long it's engaging and I rarely like history based films. And it doesn't help that this film technically ruined the Disney Renaissance and is sorta to blame for Mulan and Tarzan's lack of success.
8. Princess and the Frog
Plot- The story kicks off to a good start. Tiana trying to earn money for her restaurant and Naveen's subplot are both really good. Then the story takes an awful turn when Naveen turns into a frog, which is the whole point of the movie. It's just confusing, a whole bunch of unnecessary crap happens, there's so many locations and it just gets tedious after while.
Characters- Now this is where movie excels. All the characters are likable, with a few exceptions. The best character is Charlotte, needless to say. Followed closely par the villian Dr. Facilier, what a cool villian. Tiana is awesome. I don't like Naveen as much as the suivant person but he's okay. I like Oprah. Louis is pretty funny but rayon, ray is just unnecessary, I don't like him.
Animation- Nothing really spectacular, nothing we haven't seen before. It's great just nothing new. The really good animation comes in when Dr. Facilier's around with his magic. This film definitely shows that 2D animation still has it's benefits.
Music- Okay, you're either a fan of jazz ou you're not and I am a fan. I just l’amour the songs in this movie. Almost There, like Tiana, is awesome. The villian song is just as awesome. Down in New Orleans is the best and I like When We're Human. The rest of the songs, I don't really care for them.
Final Thoughts- The plot isn't boring like Pocahontas, but at least Pocahontas was easy to keep track and wasn't confusing. The film just has so many unnecessary scenes. The musique is awesome, the characters are awesome, the animation is beautiful and the plot is good enough I just wish it didn't have so many holes in it, then it would be much better.
7. Cinderella
Plot- Well obviously I wasn't surprised par the story since I know the fairytale par heart, like everyone else. It's not an adventure movie par any means and nothing exciting happens. The closest thing we've got is Jaq, Gus and their souris antics. Well the story does primarily take place at only two locations, Cinderella's house and the castle. So, as much I l’amour this film, I'm not afraid to admit, it's not very thrilling.
Characters- Cendrillon is impossible to hate, I can't help feeling sorry for her and falling in l’amour with her. The mice are fun, they're not annoying ou unnecessary like other sidekicks. I'm not even going to spend time on the Prince, the most generic character in history. Lady Tremaine, she's kinda scares me, which is a good thing. The Fairygod mother's cool, so is the Prince's father.
Animation- Pretty remarkable considering how old the film is. The realistic movements, the big and beautiful imagery, and the characters' facial expressions are all really captivating. Everything is just elegant down to the last sparkle. The word beautiful comes to mind when talking about this movie.
Music- It's so soothing and fun. A Dream is a Wish Your cœur, coeur Makes is clearly the best song on the soundtrack. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo is infectus, in a really good way. Sweet Nightgale is probably my favorite, Cinderella's version, not the Stepsisters'. The musique is timeless and can't think of anyone who wouldn't like at least one song.
Final Thoughts- I wanted to rank this movie higher so bad, I guess I like the haut, retour au début eight plus ou less equally. It's definitely not boring, let me clarify that but it's not very fun either, except for one ou two scenes. The musical numbers are great and I never get tired of listening to them. The animation and artwork are used to their full potential. And all the characters, well most of them, are great.
6. Sleeping Beauty
Plot- Once again a story that isn't as intresting since I know it par heart. The plot does drag on alittle but it's not a snorefest. The movie does have some really good scenes. Like the fées trying to clean, Aurora pricking her finger, Phillip fighting Maleficient and pretty much any scene with Maleficient. The plot may be not be exciting but it's good and it holds my interest.
Characters- The film's best characters are the good fairies, I like the dynamic between the three of them. My least favori is Flora, I really like Fauna and I l’amour Merryweather. Aurora is smoking hot but doesn't have the strongest personality. Neither does Phillip but I still like him alot, he's a good hero. Maleficient is the best villian in Disney history. And I like the owl.
Animation- Sleeping Beauty is a beautiful, artistic and unique looking movie. The way the characters are drawn is pretty cool, especially Maleficient. The use of shapes and rather dark designs are fascinating. This movie is colorful yet dark, it's weird yet fun at the same time.
Music- Well, I'm not a fan of opera musique but I like songs in this film. I l’amour I Wonder, it's short sweet and lovely. I liked Once Upon A Dream up until Phillip came along, he ruined it for me. The musique is very good, considering the genre. I can never get it out of my head and I don't think I want to. It's not the best but it's certainly good enough for me.
Final Thoughts- So why is this film ranked higher than Cinderella, despite that film having stronger characters and better music. Well the artwork is better, it actually has some action scenes and when toi look at indivdiual characters you'll find that this movie excels. Maleficient is a better villian, the good fées are better fées and Phillip is a better Prince. I do l’amour this movie even though I'm aware of it's flaws.
5. Beauty and the Beast
Plot- The story is extraordinary, even though certain things don't make much sense to me. Does the course of the film go on for days ou weeks? And what exactly is the Beast Prince OF, the scary forest? And how many servants are in the château if there are that many living objects? Either way it's a marvelous movie with a compelling plot until the Beast turned human.
Characters- The characters are very well developed. I don't like Belle as much as the suivant guy but she's a great leading lady. The Beast is awesome and I was actually sad when he turned human. I guess like Gaston, he's not really a villian, he's just a spoiled brat. Lumiere is the coolest sidekick. I don't like Cogsworth ou Potts. Maurice is great. The Bimbettes are hot.
Animation- The animation is just gorgeous. The beautiful scenery, the character designs and the special effects are all just gorgeous. The ballroom scene is a testament to that. The best character design belongs to the Beast, he's scary yet somehow adorable. I can definitely see the hard work the animaters put into this movie.
Music- Now here is where the film doesn't do so well. The musique isn't bad, it's just okay. The only great song is the obvious one, Beauty and the Beast. The rest of them are plus ou less okay. The song named after Belle is okay, Something There is okay, they're all just okay. Be Our Guest is a distant seconde to the theme song.
Final Thoughts- Some of toi are probably expecting me to say that this movie's overrated but it's not. It actually deserves all the hype it gets, unlike The Lion King. It's an amazing story with a great moral and great characters. The only negatives are the average music, the human Beast and a few sans réponse questions. And sadly, that's what keeps this movie from being ranked any higher.
4. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Plot- Once again, I don't think there's a single person on earth who doesn't know the story. It's a classic family friendly, feel good fairytale. It had scenes that scared me, the Queen's transformation. Scenes that made me laugh, any scene with the dwarfs. And scenes that made me cry, Snow White's "death". The plot isn't compelling but really hits me to my core and I never get tired of watching.
Characters- The characters aren't very developed but they are legendary and they do deserve recognition. I l’amour Snow White, some people say she's annoying but I don't see it. I don't really like The Prince What's His Name. I l’amour the dwarfs, Dopey and Grumpy are hilarious. I like Happy and Sleepy. Doc is at least funny. I don't care about the other two. The Queen is a good villian, that's about it.
Animation- I actually prefer the animation in this film to some of the crap they montrer today. Which should not make sense since this movie is over 80 years old. The characters actually have realistic movements and look human. This was back when animaters actually put effort into their work. Where as today they just find cheap ways like Flash.
Music- Not as good as other films but still really good. My favori song is a Smile and a Song. It just warms my cœur, coeur and cheers me up on a bad day. Heigh Ho is really good too. Someday My Prince Will Come is alright, I just like the others better. I'm Wishing and One Song are on the better side of okay.
Final Thoughts- Most people say this movie's boring but I completely disagree. Snow White is an iconic timeless classic with fun characters and a simple and joyful story. It manipulates people's emotions, making them laugh, cringe, cry and cheer. It may be an old fashioned fairytale but it's what brought animation to the big screen and paved the way for pretty much everything animated. This film deserves our respect.
3. The Little Mermaid
Plot- The plot isn't too simple but it's not too complicated either. The best scenes are the musical numbers and the ending. It has the BEST ENDING out of all the Disney movies, all of them. It had the right amount of sadness and the right amount of comedy. It has alot plus action scenes than you'd think but it focuses alot plus on making us laugh. And the film doesn't have a single boring scene, which is good.
Characters- All the characters are memorable, almost every single one. Probably because their all so relatable, and/or really funny. Ariel is great, she's cute and bubbly yet sexy and alluring. All of the side kicks are awesome, Scuttle, Sebastian and Flounder. I like King Triton and his character growth. Eric is fine, I guess. Ursula creeps me out, in a good way.
Animation- Not as good as other films but definitely in the better half. It is used to it's full potential and the artwork is very detailed. This film just got lucky in this area because it mostly takes place under water, meaning it had alot less restrictions. The scenery's beautiful, down to the last bubble. Though not as amazing as others due to it's age, it is beautiful to look at.
Music- A very close seconde to Pocahontas. Every song is fun and addictive. Part Of Your World is my favourite and the Reprise is even better. Under the Sea is the most addictive and I can't help but sing along. Poor Unfortunate Souls is a really good villian song, probably the best. Kiss the Girl is my least favorite, but only par alittle. toi can really hear Howard and Alan's hardwork.
Final Thoughts- Certainly deserves to be in the haut, retour au début three. This film can best be described with one word, fun. It's got comedy, adventure and of course romance. With memorable and relatable characters that make toi care. Some might say it's overrated but I don't think so and it's unfair to dislike a movie just because of the main character's mistakes. Everything about this movie is fun, the music, the characters, the animation. It's just fun.
2. Mulan
Plot- This is the only movie where romance is not driving the plot. Of course, I like that. The story is also really compelling and inspiring. It has alot of action and fight scenes. And a few funny ones too. The best scenes are near the end. When Mulan defeats Shan-Yu, China bows down to her and she has touching a moment with her father. It was perfect up until Mushu ruined it.
Characters- Alot of badass characters is this movie. Mulan is a badass hero and role model, male ou female. Shan-Yu, while not memorable is a pretty badass villian. Grandma Fa, Crikee and Khan are badass too. Yao, Ling and Po are hilarious. Shang is kinda boring. Fa Zhou is a cool Disney father, I don't care about Fa Li. I don't like Mushu, he ruins everything.
Animation- Not as good as Pocahontas, BaTB ou Aladdin, strange considering it was released after these films. The animation is awesome, it just didn't bring anything new to the table. The scenery is colorful but not blinding. The film's artwork does have an epic look to it and is very amazing to watch. The best animation is in the avalanche scene. The character movements are great too.
Music- The musique is pretty good. There are only four songs, half of them are awesome, the other half is just fine. Reflection is a beautiful song, that anyone can relate to. I'll Make A Man Out Of toi is a powerful infectus song that I can't out of my head. The other two are okay, not very memorable. Honor To Us All is at least fun, unlike A Girl Worth Fighting For.
Final Thoughts- It's an epic and inspiring story. It has awesome animation, collectively awesome musique and very awesome characters. There are negative things, like the ending but the film is so enjoyable. It's action packed, has a kickass leading lady and a compelling and interesting plot. It may not be romantic but it's adventurous, comedic and somewhat educational for young girls. I l’amour this movie, it's moral and it's main character.
1. Aladdin
Plot- It's a non-stop adventure story with twists and turns but not to the point where it's confusing like PATF. The plot is very enaging and holds my interest throughout the entire movie. It's hard to pin point the best scene since the whole movie is so good. Every scene is just magnificient, from beginning to end. The story is a fairytale but not as cliche as the others.
Characters- Every character serves a purpose and does something that impacts the plot. Even Abu and Iago, who both irritate me. Aladin is the best Disney Hero in history, in my opinion and officially. Genie is obviously the best character, he's just plain funny. Jafar is a creepy yet great villain. jasmin is hot and feisty and I wish she had plus airtime. I like the Sultan, Rajah is cool and Carpet is awesome.
Animation- Pretty spectacular considering this film is 20 years old. The hot lava scene is the best example. The character designs are pretty cartoonish and unrealistic. It's a sharp contrast with other films. The scenery is very cool and vivacious, sometimes the Middle East kinda looks like Las Vegas, that's the only negative thing.
Music- The musique is great, but not the best. A Whole New World is of course, the best song, it's romantic and fun. Arabian Nights is a close second. Prince Ali and So Much plus are really good too. Friend Like Me is alright. The songs are good enough, collectively and I do enjoy them. The only really memorable song is A Whole New World.
Final Thoughts- This movie has comedy, adventure, romance and action. It is the most well rounded of all the Disney films. All the characters are developed and serve some purpose. The story is unique and interesting. And it's just plain entertaining. I can't find anything truly bad to say about this movie. It's an extraordinary film that deserves every bit of recognition it gets. Aladin is not only the best Disney Princess movie but the best Disney movie period.
