Can someone please explain why Damon all ways showed up with a corbeau, corneille in the first season!! Thank you!

In the books, the vampires that drink human blood can develope an ability of appearing in the form of animals. The animal that Damon chose to appear as was a large crow. I guess they wanted to add a similar ability to the Damon in the show. But later, they gave up this idea.

i know cause i have watched every montrer and the corbeau, corneille turns up because the corbeau, corneille is a sign that damon is near so it appears when he does
