Sometime during World War II, novelist Raymond Chandler was hired par Paramount Pictures to co-write the 1944 film classic, "DOUBLE INDEMNITY", with writer-director Billy Wilder. Another two years passed before the studio assigned him to write a post-war film noir movie, 1946’s "THE BLUE DAHLIA".

Biography of Bert Lahr, Vintage Hollywood Actor

On August 13, 1895, Bert Lahr was born. His parents weren't wealthy, and the family grew up in poverty. Bert's donné name was Irving Lahrheim. He later changed it for montrer business. Lahr was not long for school, dropping out at an early age. Through vaudeville shows, Lahr was able to learn enough to get involved with other young people chant & performing on the streets. His baritone voice was a welcome addition to the acts he joined early on in his career. Lahr's specialty became depicting comedic roles in Burlesque shows. Lahr was on a roll....

"EVELYN PRENTICE" (1934) Review

"EVELYN PRENTICE" marked the third collaboration between William Powell and Myrna Loy in 1934. MGM Studios first had the pair co-star with Clark Gable in the hit crime melodrama, "MANHATTAN MELODRAMA". Then the pair hit or and became solidified as a screen team in "THE THIN MAN". Following the success of the latter, MGM paired them in a melodrama called "EVELYN PRENTICE".
