Introduction

Hi, everybody. Thanks for clicking on my article:) First thing I'd like to say is even though I categorized this as a fan fiction, it's a true story. That's just as close as I could get to a story. Anyhoo, this is the never-ending story of a real feral cat colony (Please note, feral does not necessarily mean wild.) I live in the country on a mini ranch (sorta), and our shed attracts kitties. What started as one cat evolved into a family with its own leader, heiress, subordinates, kittens, omega (sometimes), and toms. The population got way out of hand after a while, so we're now rehoming some, but that's for a future chapter;D par the way, I'll probably never be totally up-to-date on what's happening just 'cuz it's a continuous story, and I'm publishing the first chapter over 4 years later:P Well, enough of my babbling. Here's the first chapter. Enjoy!
Chapter One: A New Colony Forms
Midnight Moon let out a desperate meow. She was very pregnant and hadn't seen nourriture in days. The Queen had to find nourriture now, ou her unborn chatons would suffer the consequences. The ex-housecat needed a new human, at least long enough to feed her and give her and her future chatons food. Then, she'd be on her own again, ready to live the free life she always wanted.
Lucky for the black cat with a whole moon shape on her chest, her golden eyes spotted a welcoming shed in the clearing, away from the old-style animal traps that threatened to snap her in half should she make a misstep. Her last temporary accueil had those.
Midnight Moon had seen this accueil before. It held a couple and their 11-year-old daughter. She had seen this girl before from a distance with her dog and Miniature Horse. The girl seemed harmless, and Midnight decided to chance it and make a accueil in the shed.
Midnight made good of the plump mice in the shed, but it wasn't quite enough. If she wanted to gain weight, she would have to get plus nourriture somewhere. That's when she met the girl close-up for the first time.
She was with two other human friends, one her age and one a few years younger, all thrilled to see such a beautiful and sweet cat. This is when Midnight Moon received her name and the pet name, 'Midnight', ou sometimes, 'Midnighters'.
Midnight soon found herself with food. It wasn't the most amazing thing she'd ever tasted, the dry and unnaturally shaped cat nourriture pieces, but it was food. She eagerly gulped it all down and meowed for more, which she did get. The mother-to-be gained weight in no time, and she had found Friends in these three humans.
The time had come for Midnight's chatons to be born. She hid them out of the sight of anything that may try to look for them, a dog, a raccoon, another cat, ou even a curious human child that wanted just to see them.
The chatons remained hidden for about a mois before they outgrew their hiding spot. They were ready to be brought out to explore the outside world just a little. Midnight brought them one par one to the side of the shed where a three-wheeler, an unused fence, and a trailer would still partially hide them, but it wouldn't keep them from venturing out if curiosity got the best of them, and of course, it did.
The gray and white female was the first to poke her head out when the strange creature with two legs walked into the shed. Next, the black male took a peek. The black and white female followed. That's when they were spotted par the grandfather of the little girl. Soon, the little girl herself tried to see them. The presence of two humans made the chatons unsure, so they slipped back into their hiding spot.
The suivant day, all five chatons were a little braver and didn't run at the sight of the 11-year-old human. There was a black female, a black male, a black and white female, a gray and white female, and a gray male.
The gray tom was the first to be named. He looked a lot like a gray grange cat that girl had had a few years ago, and that cat was named 'Spooky', so he would be, too. The gray a white female was named 'Rocket' for her spunk. The black and white female was named Nikki, just because it fit for some reason. Now, only the black chatons had to be named. Like Rocket, they were also full of energy. They were named Alternating Current (AC) and Direct Current (DC) after types of electricity. It hadn't dawned on the girl that together, they made up the name of a band she hated, but oh, well. The chatons didn't care.
Rocket soon discovered her l’amour for chasing foins, hay twine. Just like indoor chats liked playing with string ou little toys attached to plastic stick, the little grange cat loved her twine. Even though she never became truly tame, she wouldn't care how close a human was as long as she had twine with her to dangle in front of the kitty's nose.
DC was an independent young tom. He rarely ran from humans unless they tried to pet him, but he preferred to be alone, even from his mirror twin, AC. DC wanted DC time.
AC, however, was a lover. She was apprehensive of humans at first, but of course she was. Even the little girl was at least 10x her size. But nourriture and toys can change almost any kittens' mind. Nothing bad could come from free nourriture and entertainment!
On a crisp late September morning, Nikki, who was becoming less and less passive, dissapeared. At a human perspective, there was no trace of her. At a cat perspective, tradgedy had befell the weanling. Nikki remained out of human sight for weeks, making death seem like the only thing that could have happened. Perhaps Nikki thought that of herself, too, at first.
Snow was just starting to make flecks on the morning herbe when the familiar black and white head popped up from behind a feed tub for the sixth-grade girl to see. She gasped with delight to see Nikki alive, but then she stepped from behind the tub for her entire body to be seen.
Everything about Nikki seemed normal except for one thing, one big thing. She had hobbled from behind the tub, her front right leg missing from the knee down. The girl gazed in horror at little Nikki, and at only eleven, knew it was a miracle Nikki survived this far, but it was unlikely she would through the winter without human help.
The girl tried and tried to capture the handicapped kitten, but Nikki would not be caught, not ever again. It made sense, for it was plain as jour what the culprit was. The very farm Midnight left had the animal traps one would only expect do see Bugs Bunny dodge. Nikki had very obviously been caught in one, and it reeked of human stench. As far as the poor kitten was concered, her own human as much at fault as the one who'd set the trap.
From that jour forward, Nikki was untouchable. It wouldn't matter how hard anyone tried to catch her. She would only be seen par human eyes for a seconde because after that, she was gone, hiding in places only chats knew of.
Midnight wasn't the type of cat to settle in one place for long. That was a well known fact par anyone, human ou feline, that knew her. She set out for adventure again, taking with her Rocket, DC, and Nikki, who was wonderfully still cared for par her mother even after being weaned.
She came back that autumn to have another litter where they would be sûr, sans danger from deadly traps until exploration gripped them as adolescents. The two beautiful chatons were both black, but they were too wild for the girl to check their genders, so she gave them mostly neutral names. One was named Blackie, not a unique name but still a cute one. The fluffy one, first mistaken to be fat, was named Chubby.
Midnight, Blackie, and Chubby lived in the shed for about two months before they set out for another place, probably where their other relatives were.
It saddened the girl greatly to see Midnight Moon leave, but one thing did stay behind: her legacy. She brought upon a last name for her family, Elsket, Norwegian for 'Precious'. She founded a cat clan that would thrive under her granddaughter. A new colony had formed.
So what'd ya think? I know the third person made it kinda naturalist which doesn't work with the drama and emotion I tried to insert. I just hate first-person animal stories. Oh, and I have a poor picture of Midnight. Should I mettre en ligne it? It's a suckish picture but the only one still on an SD card. Thanks for lire :D

salut I'm Reese's! I'm fat but I don't care! What? toi see that cute black lab over there? Don't mind him, he has no brains. He's stupid
(Me: Reese's! Be nice!)
Okay, okay. He has nothing in his head.
(...*sigh*)
*flicks tail* What? toi think I'm joking? I'm not. Okay, today I had no brains. I went into the bathroom away from that stupid dog...
(don't mind Reese's, she doesn't like dogs. No offense to the dog amoureux out there!!)
*rolls eyes* Anyways, I thought a nice towel-made hole would be nice to climb in and be comfy for a cat-nap. No, it was too small for me. Now, my head and my shoulders were stuck for a bit. toi see that human over there? Yeah she's my human. Yeah, she started LAUGHING. Now, I'm her cute little baby girl! No, today I had to be the stupid one and climb into a small hole. I got out and my human told me to go back in. I did. Then after three four times, I decided the hole was too small. I ran out of the bathroom and hid my face.
(This is true! ALL TRUE!! *laughs*)
