Sometimes it's great to be a bookseller.

B.E.A. (which I didn't go to, alas) has passed and our book buyers have come back with some great ARCs in their suitcases and begun to share the book love. The eagerly-awaited seconde book to The Hunger Games is in my hands, as well as Jeannette Wall's new "true-life novel". I was also happily surprised par a new book in a new series par Cinda Williams Chima, auteur of the Heir trilogy (The Warrior Heir; The Wizard Heir; The Dragon Heir). All three are fantastic -- y'all should pick them up come Autumn 2009!

Catching Fire par Suzanne Collins

I know the titre may make toi smile and giggle. I did too when it was introduced to me as a gift when I was studying for my master’s degree in psychology in 2001. And what a gift! I am since happily involved in human resources for a law firm employing over 600 people, including 250 lawyers. Over 600 very different human beings with very different ways of thinking, but 600 very different human beings all living for the same purpose: make the best out of everything life gave to each and everyone of them – creativity and courage –...

Daniel Goleman, 1996, 288 pages

A penetrating analysis of the dark corners of human deception, enlivened par intriguing case histories and experiments – It was written for the professional, yet is understandable par the layman as well because it is so well and clearly written. This is a great book for coaches, counsellors, and therapists working with individuals that are grieving ou dealing with past issues. I found the book to be helpful in explaining why so many of the people I coach seem to have denied ou repressed very emotionally traumatic incidents. The human mind is amazing and complex....

Now, there are two types of memoirs in my mind: those about famous people, and those that aren't. Both have their pros and cons. plus people are likely to notice a famous memoir at the bookstore and buy it based on the celebrity's name -- but "common folk" memoirs don't have pre-conceptions, politics, and religious perspectives to overcome. ou you're like me, who likes whatever she reads as long as its good. Whatever toi like to read, here are a few memorable memoirs that I'd recommend toi read.

With memoirs written par writers, toi rightfully expect that the memoir is as good of a read as their...

Seeing as I haven't posté an article here yet I thought I'd type up a little something. This'll be a liste of livres that I read and some mini reviews of them; seeing as there are a lot, I will be utilizing my reviews from 'Goodreads'. Some reviews will be cut short to keep the length down.
Some reviews will have spoilers.

First and foremost, I l’amour Lex. She's sassy, funny, and sarcastic. She also was all head over heals for Driggs. toi can tell she likes him, but it doesn't turn the story into some silly stupid romance novel, basically it didn't obstruct the plot. I really really loved,...

I highly recommend this book: Edenbrook par Julianne Donaldson.

I've never read a book this good. It had my stomach churning and flipping and I swear I reread every paragraph a kajillion times, I couldn't get enough. It is a page turning, intense, action filled romance.

Here's the catch: it is during the regence era (like old England, Pride and Prejudice). BUT don't let that scare toi off. The auteur writes in a way that twists modern écriture and makes it feel old and rustic. It isn't in that big fancy écriture where toi have to look up every other word and read the sentance twice just to understand...

Hi there everyone!

I'm a writer and I'd l’amour some international support for my story that I already gave to my favori actor Colin morgan personally as a gift. He inspired me for a certain character and it was donné plus as a sign of gratitude for the inspiration rather than for him to read it. No idea if he ever would, but I just hope the effort I put into translating it just for him made him happy that day. What a brilliant actor ^^ Anyways - I've created a club and this account itself for communicating with future readers. I don't want to bother anyone with it, but how else could toi let...

While I have only discovered Bill Bryson's works within the past year, I have whole-heartedly fallen in l’amour with his writings. Why? Because they are the freaking funniest things I have ever read. He delights in depicting the strange and the awkward, which usually turns out to be him. This "God Dad! [teenage eyes rolling in disdain, can't believing that they are related]" theme runs throughout his books, adding *pop* and *crackle* to his extremely informative...

Maddie kept her eyes shut, she felt sick with horrer and the fear of her friends' lifes was so strong.
"Maddie?" Vita's voice sounded week and unstable as if she had been suffering a terrible attack.
"Vita? Are toi ok? Where's the others? Do toi have the page?" Maddie's voice was urgent and quick as if she had too much to say and not enough time to say it.
